Post by POSTMAN »

So to all our customers how did we do,did you get your Mail on time?,did anything go missing?
There's been a lot of negative press about us over the last year,if you read our Forums you will see that it's not all plain sailing
for us,as the foot soldiers of the business.
But what's your thoughts/stories of your dealings with us.

Three UK parcels sent to me from three different parts of the country. None arrived, which rather looks like my local sorting office

Could be your local office, both of you or even your mail center,it's hard to tell.
But if you both complain/claim,it DOES get investigated.

One thing though,we use a lot of' casuals' over Xmas,so all this s**t goes through the roof

I'm going to go down the local sorting office and try and see the manager. The only thing is, I don't want to cause trouble for my regular postman as he's great.

He wont get in trouble, chances are he wont even be spoken to,but if he does he knows the score.
No doubt your local office and char22's,like many around get loads of complaints like this.especially this time of year.
If there's a lot from 1 office then they will do an investigation, any Postie that are not nicking have nothing to worry about.
The ones that are doing the stealing don't even know they're being watched, hence the numnuts get caught.

Christmas Deliveries

Post by Macscient »

On the whole I was very impressed with the level of service this year.

There was some odd behaviour with some of the smart stamp international items that I sent.

Of the 12 I posted, 6 came back the next day apparently because the sorting machine (at the Jubilee Mail Centre) had picked up the small return address in the top left hand corner rather than the main address in the middle... Rather worryingly, the casual postman still delivered them back to us when it was an obvious mistake

I have worked as a Christmas Causal at the Royal Mail Sorting Hub based at Bristol Parkway Railway station in the past, but this year I don't think they were using the trains, even though they advertised vacancies for the post anyway! Hectic work but I enjoyed it. My father was a postman for many years and always enjoyed it, but then a lot has changed it would seem since he was doing the job.

Christmas Deliveries

Post by Katiebee »

I can't moan about deliveries over the Holidays regarding my carrier or local postal substation. My gripe is mainly that it's sad that upper management never prepare for the Christmas rush. They know there's going to be a quadrupling of mail and they bring in temps way too late. The regular sorters, drivers, carriers etc have to contend with the BS complaints that are NOT their fault.

I think management should hire the real workers to run the system down at RM, get rid of the upper management who don't know what it's like to walk a route, carry heavy sacks, get sworn at and abused from disgruntled people.

I think when people who know what they're doing start running the PO things will improve.
If you know Christmas is a busy season, bring in temps who will be trained in time to do the sorting and packing etc. My parcels arrived to everyone but not in time. That isn't down to the carriers IMO, that was down to mismanagement of not properly training temps.

I am one of the few who appreciate my posties and post office workers who are the best in my book.
