My Tracking number no longer works

I´ve been reading your informative and helpfull site for 24 hours now, since i had a parcell enter the UK from China. RB891152637CN
The item was posted in China on 15, 11, 13 and entered the uk on 05, 12, 13 according to the Chinapost tracking system.

Yesterday using the http://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; link given here the parcell was showing as
COLLECTED HEATHROW WORLDWIDE DC

out of curiosity but not expecting any change, I decidedd to take a look again today only to find the Tracking Number is no longer recognised, and is returning the message "Sorry, there has been a problem with reference number you've entered. Please try again."

Can anybody enlighten me as to why this is, or what may have happened?

I realise it´s far to early to worry but the number being recognised one day and not the next does appear strange to me.

I think it was a software glitch I tried tracking it and got the same - but a few seconds ago from this post it was back up and tracking in HWDC.

To be honest you probably won't see any more tracking till its delivered.

Thanks TrueBlueTerrier, I had just came to that conclusion myself (edited 14.00 GMT)

4 hours later and the package is now showing up again, must have been a glitch in the tracking system.

Items from China are treated as recorded once in the UK. TBT could we get a stick up in the customer forum with a list of countries whose registered items are registered still within the UK with a note that any not on the list are treated as recorded in the UK

Thanks SpacePhoenix & TrueBlueTerrier, I had read enough of the forum to work out for myself that there probably wouldnt be any further updates untill final delivery (i´m abroad at the moment & still interested if the item is delivered to my elderly parents in my absence) My origional post was regarding the item vanishing from the tracking system completely rather than an enquirey regarding it being updated. As a point of fact, I´ve just rechecked http://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; again and it appears the tracking system is down again and is yet again showing "Sorry, there has been a problem with reference number you've entered. Please try again." no doubt it´ll reappear at some stage.

To be honest, that is normal right now, especially during the Christmas period. I would check again on Wednesday.

I've just spoke to royal mail and my item is now officially classed as Lost, That's on no help to me though as I'm out of pocket for the purchase of the item and only the seller can claim!!

Have you checked your local delivery office to make sure they don't have it?
