No tracking info when paid for postage online?

Post by Hoggy148 »

Hey everyone I sold my first item on eBay and paid for the postage online through there thinking it would be easier. I went with signed for first class, printed the label stuck it on etc thinking i would receive tracking info when handing it over at the post office.

when i handed my parcel over and asked about tracking info they said they cant do that as its already paid for and the most they could do is give me a certificate of posting, is that all i need?
i dont have any tracking info to give to the customer which is a shame, is there no way i can get it? would rather had just paid for the postage there and then thinking on it now.
Just dont want the rare chance that they will say they never received the item or something like that as i wont be able to view the electronic signature and info.

Anyway think i will deffo be paying for postage at the post-office now if i need something signed for.

just to make you aware, signed for is not a tracked service, the only time it gets scanned is after delivery is attempted, either to confirm it was delivered or with undelivered scans,

the only difference you would have got by doing ti in the post office was a scan saying it was accepted at x post office, nothing else, if you need a tracked service then i suggest you send it by special delivery, costs more but is more secure and is fully tracked and higher compensation levels

I would have thought that the 'signed for' sticker could have been affixed by the Post Office and properly processed by them, but they probably just didn't want to as they hadn't sold you the postage.
