DEAR ROYAL MAIL COLLEAGUES, PLEASE HELP!
Dear Royal mail colleagues, please help!
I have posted a small box using International Signed For to China. The box contains a necklace that we inherited from our past relatives. They are very valuable to us.
We used International Signed For for many years. It always delivers. Not the quickest, but a safe service for us. Because we can not proof how much the necklace worth (no receipt and the like). Therefore we didn't insure it.
The parcel was sent out on 02/07/2013 with tracking number RU102070449GB. Royal mail online track said the parcel left UK one day after I posted it. But one month after that, my relatives in China still have not received it.
We know, in China, Royal mail is using Chinese postal service for delivery inside China. Normally, it is trackable using Chinese postal website. But this time nothing shows up. So we started get worried. We thought if Royal Mail website is saying the parcel has left UK. It must mean the parcel is somehow lost in China. We sent our relatives to Chinese custom and Chinese postal service head quarter. They all said there is no record this item has been passed to them.
So I called Royal mail customer service and asked how can I investigate the missing parcel. They asked me to fill a missing parcel claim form. I did it and sent it back. After two month there is no update on the claim. So I called Royal mail again. They said they can't find the parcel. They can only refund me 50 pound, because I have no insurance.
I asked them if the item has ever been shipped to China. They said if there is no record in China postal. It means the item is lost during transition from UK to China. I asked them which company is carrying the parcel to China and which flight the parcel is on. They told me they can not share the information with me.
I don't want 50 pound back. I just want my necklace back. Because it means a lot to us. It has been more than three months since I posted the necklace. I will not give up investigating.
I am here asking for help. How should I carry on investigation? Could this parcel is still at Heathrow Delivery centre? How could I know which flight the parcel is going with? How do I track it? How do I make sure the item has or has not been passed to China post?
Dear Royal mail colleagues, please shed some light on this please!
Many thanks!
Frank

Re: DEAR ROYAL MAIL COLLEAGUES, PLEASE HELP!
The full routing scan is:
03/07/13 11:23 ACCEPTED AT POL 145 - 147 South W5 4QP
03/07/13 14:40 COLLECTED GREENFORD MAIL CENTRE
03/07/13 18:15 DESPATCHABLE TO HWDC SIGNED FOR ROAD 3 GREENFORD MAIL CENTRE
04/07/13 PM DESPATCHED TO BEIJING CHINA CHINA
From the look of this it was sent to China on the 4th of July therefore it is not in this country. What has likely happened is that China Post have failed to do what they are supposed to do - scan the item, providing tracking updates. Therefore no log because they didn't do it.
You will never get transit details because of operational security.
When you posted the parcel did you put a return address on it?

Many thanks for the reply!swindonandy wrote:.When you posted the parcel did you put a return address on it?
The parcel was sent out on 02/07/2013. There is return address on the parcel.
Is there anyway to find out more information about which flight the parcel was flying with? When did it arrive in China? So I can start investigation from China post delivery warehouse.
Many thanks!!

All you can do is claim for the item as missing. Follow the instructions on Royal Mail website, but basically you need to complete a form P58.

Re: DEAR ROYAL MAIL COLLEAGUES, PLEASE HELP!
But I have completed P58 form and sent back to Royal Mail in August (one and half month after I posted my parcel). RM acknowledged receiving the form on 23rd of August. But after two months, when I called customer service again, they said they can not find my parcel.harry84 wrote: All you can do is claim for the item as missing. I want to know if RM customer service can not do anything, how could I find my missing parcel myself?
At least I need the information to confirm the parcel has been taken to China on which date with which flight. So I can go to China post to ask them where the item is after arrived in China.
PLEASE HELP!!
THANKS!!

Re: DEAR ROYAL MAIL COLLEAGUES, PLEASE HELP!
As before,
YOU WILL NOT BE TOLD FLIGHT DETAILS
It left the country on the date of the scan. Once that scan happens it is as good as gone. China post lost it somewhere in their own system.
Because it was posted in the UK you claim for the loss here and RM have processes in place to get the money out of China Post.

Thank you.
The parcel can not just disappear. It must be lost somewhere at some stage. There must be recorded where the item was last seen. So We can, at least, follow that information to find out more.

Re: DEAR ROYAL MAIL COLLEAGUES, PLEASE HELP!
its not recorded anywhere except the last scan at heathrow, its not possible to tell what aircraft it even got on, or even if it got on one to china, there is nothing else you can do except fill in the claim form unfortunately and learn that next time to send the item via a more trackable and secure method than international signed forFrankrui wrote:Thank you.

Looks like China doesn't track any stuff from the UK. Best guess is that they might treat it as a normal recorded delivery item

Re: DEAR ROYAL MAIL COLLEAGUES, PLEASE HELP!
various different airlines are used there would be no way to know which one your item was supposed to have been sent on, it may even have been put on an aircraft to a completely different country, as we have told you before there is no way to try and track down this itemFrankrui wrote:Could anybody kindly tell me which airline royal mail use to ship items to China?
