Okay I believe you and have changed your rank again. But still, are you in touch with former colleagues and if so what do you think about P&L, overtime not being paid, forced to work over, 4.5 hr walking duties, no longer being paid for D2Ds, saturdays being a normal day, release to street at 10am instead of 7am, SDD, no collections on Sunday......... etc etcThe real eagle wrote:It's been a few years!!
Love the way I have been taken as press/management instead of just an impartial that reckons you may all just be walking blindly into a trap.

Re: Something to consider
Hmm, I really don't know what to think.
My concerns:-
You'll strike for the obvious reasons and will get punished when the inevitable happens i.e. new management/new ways of working are introduced. And they will be, we all know it.
They'll get (for example and without being racist) the poles in who are machines and will do a walk in 3/4 of the time for 1/2 of the wage and still be over the moon with the wages.
My solution?
Well I haven't really got one except to say that if it was my job/life on the line then I would be at 110% as opposed to 5%.
This is because there are some really clever *u*kers trying to shift all this in certain directions and in times of trouble I was always told to do the unexpected and go the extra mile.

And if you have anything as your weapon the it is 'exceptional local knowledge'.
When you can make number 2 then, 13, then 4,6,15,17,19,6, etc make sense then you still have a chance.
A fair point?

If maximum effort is 100% – 110% is beyond your capacity. The real eagle wrote:My solution?
Well I haven't really got one except to say that if it was my job/life on the line then I would be at 110%.
Even 101% means you are making an effort beyond your actual capacity. Some may argue it’s justified as you're increasing your effort beyond what you thought was possible for you – yet that’s irrelevant as the percentage is a measure of maximum output. You can still only give 100%. If your effort output has increased, you need to recalibrate, so what you before called 100% effort, should now be seen as 91% effort therefore 110% is still impossible.
If you then argue that the percentage given relates to average not maximum effort – then in fact 110% isn’t trying that hard.
After all, we must assume that with roughly 1/3 of the day sleeping and much of the rest of the day not at optimal levels – that our average effort level isn't very high. So, a 10% uplift over your normal effort is in fact a rather weak attempt, surely you should be giving 200% (double average) or 1,000% or a million, or a billion percent effort?
I laugh at your measly 110% effort....
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

We lead all surveys in customer satisfaction.
We have a turnover of £9 billion and produced profits of over £400 million.
We are already brilliant but our employer wants to reward that brilliance by reducing our terms and conditions.
How would you feel?

Kinda guessed there would have been no response to the above - other than your comment cheap labour would do it.
That is what employees are trying to protect, chasing the race to the bottom, zero hour contracts etc.
I find it highly frustrating that this country that seem so angst about immigration taking jobs etc then suddenly turn a blind eye when it means something can be done cheap. - Including companies being able to force and keep down a low wage and have the attitude that "If you can't do it, then there are 100 people behind you who will - and I can pay them £2per hour less".
Fact of this nation is: Every wants a cheap job, but not a job done on the cheap.
I wish you well in whatever it is you do and hope you never have to face such a leadership that only knows you as a number.
