Recorded Delivery Delivered To Wrong Address/Wrong Country

Hi ... I sent a small parcel to an address in Greece on September 24th, last week we tracked the progress of the parcel and it had reached Greece. Today, as the parcel had not reached its destination we checked again, this is the message displayed after entering the tracking code: (Tracking Code Removed)

A delivery was attempted for your item with reference ************* in GERMANY before 09:47 on 14/10/13.
If the addressee does not collect it or make an arrangement to have it redelivered, it will be returned to the sender in the UK.

The parcel has somehow left Greece and turned up in Germany! The Greek address is printed on my receipt so how could an attempt be made to deliver to a German address??
What can I do now?

unfortunately you will need to wait and see what happens, if its been undelivered even in the wrong country the local office should either send it straight back to sender, route it to correct country or hold onto it for a while(length depends on country) then send it back

when it gets back to the uk it should then get sent back to you if it has a return address on it, sent to belfast if no return address on it, or it may even then be forwarded onto greece,

I would suggest you wait 15 days then put in a claim for compensation for loss of item

Its possible that the Greek courier/postal service have passed it back to GLS as they have been unable to deliver it for some reason, might be worth trying to find out who they were.

The main Hub for GLS in europe is in Germany so on RMs/GLS systems this was probably the only tracking available once it re entered their network.

Ok, it's been resolved, the parcel is in Germany en route back to me. I have no idea why it wasn't delivered but at least I now know why it's in Germany

What is the status on GLS? Could be dodgy info sent back to RM. If it looks like is still with GLS in Greece maybe have the recipient check with their local GLS office.

Try contacting the Argentinian equivalent of Royal Mail, it might be stuck in a sorting office though based on that they might have started the process for sending it back to the sender
