Ordered something online & started tracking it's progress as soon as I got a tracking number.
The parcel made it to the post office on Tuesday - no sign of it yet though.
We had absolutely no post on Wednesday or Thursday (Friend on my street confirmed no post)
Now when I tracked this morning the message has changed to:
"We were unable to deliver XXXXXXXXXXXXX as there was no access to the delivery address on 2013-08-29. The item will be returned to XXX DO to await instructions from addressee."
What does 'no access' mean? The streets are completely clear, no construction work, no police incidents, nothing. Someone too lazy to do our street?
Await instructions from addressee? What am I supposed to do? I wouldn't even know I was expected to give 'Instructions' if I didn't track it online.
How long should I expect to wait? Should I just order my item again and use a courier delivery (Who actually do their jobs efficiently) when checking out?

We are not an official Royal Mail site - you're not very efficient at reading or perhaps it was laziness
Posted on every page:
We have no affiliation with either Royal Mail or the Communications Workers Union (CWU), except that most of our members work for Royal Mail and/or are members of the CWU.
Because we are not an official site there is no requirement for us to answer all questions, with your approach you are unlikely to get one here. May I suggest you contact Royal Mail customer service and get their advice.
Even if we did want to help, a rough location would have helped as there are many possible reasons why there was an access problem.

You sound like the kind of halfwit that likes to leave their dog to roam the streets and then laughs when it attacks the postman. Probably that.
Or your house stinks.
Or he's fed up clambering over the old mattress left in front of the door.

Nah were just lazy.
Was your "friend" sat at window all day watching from 8am-5pm?
Roll on privatisation, you can collect your parcel all the time then.
