That I understand BUT would you not think that RM would be trumpeting £500 as opposed to £300 which is only £100 more less tax insurance AND pro rata so whichever it is it don't amount to a hill of beans.[because on logistics we would only get £400 as we have different agreements.this has been rejected so its not on offer.]

Who is voting on a pay deal?
There is no pay deal to vote on.
The pay offer which contained the £300/£500 was rejected and until Royal Mail make another offer that our negotiators deem acceptable to put to the membership there is nothing to vote on or even discuss.

This thread is a nonsense thread about nothing,It should really be moved to the canteen.

keep in mind Royal mail have not came forward with a business plan and if we sign up to a pay deal without a business plan in place then Royal MAil put any old business plan in place ... like say for example a move to a salary based pay where you work till your delivery is completed thus doing away with cut offs and overtime payments .... it is common practice in the private sector

I know this pay offer was rejected. But the union should tell RM to stick their lump sums where the sun don't shine. One-off lump sums are fools gold. I'd rather the CWU negotiated instead for an additional 1% on basic pay, if RM have got the sort of money / spare cash to fund £300 lump sums.
An extra 1℅ is worth about what, £200 per year? But it would be in our pay EVERY year !

I think that obviously the privatisation could be done in next 4 weeks and that would mean no lump sum being paid as in previous offer. They would not raise the 2.6% by much so obviously we would undoubtedly Lose out both ways!

Did the union see this coming that they would have it done before strike?

Of course they could see if coming, and yes they are still in discussion. But your position is flawed for one simple reason. The offer was rejected by the Union on the back of a consultative ballot because it was not acceptable.

Your scenario is possible in either a YES vote or a NO vote. In my opinion its more likely that they will withdraw the whole offer if we return a NO vote as they know they will hold all the cards and they will effectively be able to do what they want. If we return a YES vote then they could withdraw the offer under pressure from the Government to punish us, but then we will have the legal option of striking and the fight will be on.

No one should be voting in the ballot based on what ifs, maybe's or somehow's.

Vote NO in the ballot if you think the offer is acceptable - vote Yes if it isn't - it is really that simple.

If you can accept a no strike deal, weaker pensions over time because of the 5% cap, ever increasing workloads with no input from you or the Union, a pay offer that is below predicted inflation over the whole 3 years, that the current workload situation in deliveries is Okay. and, if you think that Managerial B&H is acceptable in its present form - then reject the strike ballot and tick the No box.

Hopefully most can see beyond the £££££ signs and will support the strike.

Well oddly enough, in the last deal, which was a negotiated settlement, the pension has been downgraded, the workload IS ever increasing, the 3 year pay deal was below the level of inflation, earnings have decreased and B&H has been a problem for two years at least and that after industrial action in 2009 - sooooo what magic wand is going to create a newer better deal than the last one?
