Technical problems at Swindon Mail Centre

Post by Terryk »

I am on an SN postcode and for the last two days there has been mention in the daily customer bulletin of problems in processing inbound mail at the Swindon Mail Centre.

Coupled with that I have had calls from customers asking if paperwork sent by them has been received. To be honest I am always getting these calls and it usually comes down to "the secretary hadn't posted it when I thought she had" or is underpaid and gets delayed for surcharging.

However this week I have had more calls than usual and I wonder if anyone knows how bad the problems are and whether it is really delaying that much mail or just RM covering themselves?

Monday was a complete balls-up - Late shift (1st class postings) failed by a moderate amount, Nights (who process the mail delivered to you) failed by more, Tuesday Earlies (2nd class postings from Monday) failed in turn, Tuesday lates was cutting it fine, not everything got out I think. Looks like Nights failed again last night so more effects on mail coming into the area.

Why? No replacement of staff leaving/kicked out and no overtime to fill their duties or cover pressure. The head woman is trying to cut to the bone and it is showing.
