Plant restrictions abroad?

Post by fly-catchers »

Hi
I send plants regulary abroad to the various EU countries. Unlike sending outside the EU where you need special documentation such as CITES and Phytosanitary. But recently RM have been saying they cannot handle plants to Countries such as Germany because they are on the Restrictive list! But according to the German Post Office there are no restrictions on receiving plants from another EU Country- it is free trade. Is this just a way for RM to avoid paying any compensation?
A recent plant sent to Germany took over 30 days and was first sent to France where the German post code cause them issues trying to find the address in France!! They made two attempts before finally it arrived dead at its destination in Germany!!

I read that a while back. Still trying to understand what it means!! Is EMS a delivery company? Any plants I send are either bare-rooted (no compost) or potted in pure peat. Is it worth me trying to claim for this latest dead plant sent to Germany but spending 4 weeks going round France?

EMS is Express Mail Service. http://www.ems.post/ explains it all pretty well.
