Signed For - Collected From Office

Post by LucasLCC »

Hi All,

Sent yet another Signed For item, and this time no-one was able to accept it at the address, so went back to the office. It's been collected this morning, but the system simply says: "Item KF174188266GB was collected by customer from Bradwell on 09/08/13. Thank you for using our Royal Mail Signed For™ service"

Now, it's only been half a day, so no major issue, but am I to expect a signature, or do the delivery offices not take signatures? Because my office never has. If that's the case, then surely that's not a "Signed For" service?

I am guessing that the callers office might not have a PDA so the office has scanned it as delivered - if a signature was collected then it should appear on the system early next week.

Its not a big office in fact its quite quaint so they have some strange practices.

Your office should most definitely be getting signatures, in fact the callers office should have less excuse than a postie on delivery as just scanning an Item tells the operator if a signature is required.

Well this has most confused me. Went onto the system again, with the same number:

"Your item with reference KF174188266GB was delivered from our DORE Delivery Office on 10/08/13 .

Thank you for using our Royal Mail Signed For™ service

The electronic Proof of Delivery may not be available for this item yet. Please allow up to 72 hours after delivery before checking."

So apparently it's been collected from one office, and delivered from a second. Trackdetails lists both, so no idea what's going on
.. Naturally there's no signature yet.

In regards to my callers office, I can never recall signing for a single item, even with manager watching. It confuses me when the form says I need a signature, yet none is taken. Perhaps I will mention it next time I have to collect something.

On TrackDetails, it says this:

10/08/13 11:30 DELIVERED09/08/13 DORE PDO
09/08/13 10:27 COLLECTED FROM POL Bradwell
08/08/13 08:55 ARRIVED AT POL Bradwell
06/08/13 15:01 ACCEPTED AT POL Martins News BH24 1HB

That means it was accepted at Martins News (where you sent it). It then arrived 2 days later at Bradwell Post Office (Not Delivery Office). The postman (who was from Dore Delivery Office) then collected the parcel from Bradwell Post Office, and delivered it.

A strange arrangement, but maybe that's how they do it there...

Managed to completely miss the "POL" at the end of those two tracking lines. Although, seeing as the Signed For service isn't tracked, I'm curious to why they show up at all? If someone was to scan a Signed For item at a track point, then would it show up on the system?

No sign of a signature yet, but knowing my luck it'll be a card signature that appears in two weeks time.

But thanks both for your help.
Lucas,
