Hoping for some advice about what to do, before I go down to the sorting office to speak with someone or phone customer service, concerning a note I found when i got home this evening, it was handwritten note claiming to be from the postie saying he was sorry but he had run out of advice slips and that a package had been left inside the recycling bin.
I have checked inside the bin and there is no package there, however there were several bits of rubbish like an empty sandwich packet + drinks cans inside which I had not added (recycling day was yesterday so should be empty) so my gut instinct is that someone may have gone to throw stuff in my bin, seen the package and taken it. Alternatively someone is trying a scam but since there was no reference or phone number on the note I doubt it.
I have not ordered anything recently so the only thing I can think of is there is a kick-starter I backed which is sending stuff out in batches, I am trying to confirm with them if they sent me something.
Since it was just a handwritten note and nothing with a reference number I am not sure what I can do, would Royal Mail be able to ask the postman what the item was, are they liable for a lost package by leaving a handwritten note? I would ask the postie myself but due to my hours I leave really early so am never in when they deliver.
Attached a photo of the note, bit of an odd one but any advice appreciated.
Thanks!
