And there lies the problem, you do not know the difference between REASONABLE and UNREASONABLE!
  • The former is the act of duty rotation in order to accomodate a disabiled colleague.
  • The latter describes your attitude and thought processes.

I think here lies the problem: Reasonable adjustment HAS been made and you "the biggest man" don't like it! (You know what they say about guys that own big dogs!)

I have been bitten three times in my twelve years at Royal Fail and each was by a small dog, so while I agree big ones bite hardest, I still
think its the little bastards you need to look out for.

You are confusing two issues unreasonable in law, and unreasonable to the person concerned.

Similar types of duties are meant to be relatively equal therefore if the person being moved is considered fit and healthy (ie not on DDA/Equality Act) then yes it can be considered reasonable to move him. If however he was also DDA/EA qualified, and reasonable adjustments had been previously to the duty made then it probably would be unreasonable to move him without making further adjustments.

If I was the individual being moved would I think it was unreasonable - of course I would its human nature, but its not unreasonable in law and that's the difference.

Only the manager can make the decision on who can be moved, and what is a reasonable adjustment, of course he will be guided in this by the H&S Rep, (or IR Rep), ATOS, the individuals GP and ATOS.

Until my knees give up and I need an easier walk.

I don't know if it's true, but I was told that post revision offices that have had a resign means that even though you may have signed for a walk, it's not "yours" for life, you can be moved off it for "operational" reasons.

i disagree.

if your knees are going why make them worse???
go off sick and use the full sick entitlement and then get the ihr.

you win and your collegues win.

I think a lot of people forget that this is a job.
I think if we are privatised a lot of people aren't going to know what hit them.
Unreasonable...to be asked to do the same job in a different area?
Take that to an Employment Tribunal and see how far you get. :cuppa
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Seniority will be one of the first things to go when privatisation has happened.

Ohh the bad men want to move me off my cushy duty and give it to someone with f****d up knees.
Ohh the injustice of it all. :cry :cry
Our rurals are anything but cushy, yes it may be easier for them i.e. less walking, less stress on the knees.
So you have posties that have been on a duty for 10yrs+ and they can be moved without notice or consultation because ATOS says so?

But my main gripe and my members is a PT taking a FT position above others who have been there longer
" less walking" on a rural duty but certainly not "less stress on the knees" climbing out of and falling back into a Combo van hundreds of times a week. .
