Attempted Theft

Post by fb1969 »

Posting as a customer despite being a postie myself. Very reluctant to use the subject heading that I have, but sadly it is the truth.

A few days ago I posted an envelope to someone who lives about 8 miles away and within the same postcode (but a different DO to mine). It was a brown envelope and inside it were two, separately enveloped, birthday cards - one just a card and the other containing a cheque. I have just heard that the outer envelope had an RM sticker on it apologising for it being damaged. Fair enough, accidents can happen. However both of the internal envelopes had been slit open, but with no contents removed.

I cannot see any way that the outer and inner envelops could have been damaged in the way they had by any machinery. I have been double enveloping birthday cards this way for some time so it isn't obvious what the contents are, but it seem that some sad twattish git is so desperate to steal they don't even care how obviously they do it.

I know that everywhere has a few bad apples, but seeing this from the customer side has really brought it home to me. Thanks to the scum that did this.

It is disgusting.
It can tar us all with the same brush.
A couple of lads I used to work with were sacked for stealing birthday money out of cards, and it is deplorable. As we said to each other at the time, it could be us sending that to our relatives, but the thieving sh***s don't care. It is a sad state of affairs when fellow workers can't be trusted, though I still maintain that the vast majority are honest.
In my office, some of us have had uniform stolen. Unbelievable. It's free, and they still steal it.
Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.
