On wednesday last week (01/05/2013), i sent a small parcel containing my passport (and some other important documents that cost hundreds of pounds to get) to student finance England DL1 9HJ using first class delivery. It obviously should only take about 3 days maximum to reach them, but i got an email from student finance today saying that they still have not received the parcel; May i just state that i also used the 'recorded delivery' system to send the parcel and in turn they gave me a receipt containing the tracking ID number for the parcel. I tried to track it on the royal mail website but it said that the item needed to be delivered first before any information was to be available. So i began to get worried and went to check the receipt i was given and realised that the destination post code was typed wrongly. It says 'DA1 9HJ' instead of 'DL1 9HJ'. i did some research and realised that the post code was for a royalmail sorting office in Darford. However, the rest of the address on the receipt (Student Finance England PO Box 210 Darlington...) was typed correctly. So i began to wonder if i wrote the postcode wrong (i doubt this), or the person that served me typed it wrong. I should also state that i wrote my address (sender's address) on the envelop i used.
I guess my question is that 'Is there any chance that the parcel will be sent to the correct postcode? and if not, will I at least get the parcel sent back to me?' I really do not know what or how to feel right now. I will be going to the post office i used to send the parcel, to complain. But i will really really appreciate any help i can get.
P.S. i am new to this forum. Thanks in advance.

It will possibly go to Darford first then when the mistake becomes obvious it should then go to Darlington,As long as you have your return address on it worse case scenario it will be returned to you.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

That is something i can only pray and hope for. But thanks for the quick reply. At least if it is sent back to me, i can send it again and make sure that the mistake is not repeated.

FYI
The Signed For™ 1st or 2nd Class, (Recorded Delivery), Services should not be used for valuable items and only carries a Maximum Compensation of £50
I would suggest that had you provided the Post Office with a true idea of the content of your mail item, they would have suggested that you use the the Special Delivery Guaranteed™ Service.
