Wrong Post code, Correct Address.

Post by Totile »

I bought an item from Ebay over two weeks ago, unfortunately having just moved, i put in the correct address but my old postcode.
My old address, new address and the sender are all within 2 hours of each other.
The package has not been delivered to either Address, and i can't contact the seller.

I was reading that as long as the address is correct, it should find its way.
but 18 days seems a bit much, Is it?

Is it likely to find its way to me eventually?

Anyway to find out where it is?

Thank you for any advice your able to give.

18 days seems a bit long, How was it sent? Recorded, tracked, special etc?

I'd hazard a guess if it isnt delivered in a few days it'd have gone back to the sender, Assuming the sender put his return addy on the packet.

Royal Mail 2nd Class Signed For.

Yeah... I'v been trying to contact him to ask if he put a return address on the package...
I would assume if it had been returned that he would check his email/ebay for messages...
So i can only assume At the moment that it is still floating around somewhere...

in my experience these things can take time.
i often get mail turn up with slightly incorrect or missing postcodes for with similar address for my area of delivery but are meant for the the other end of the country.
In the first instance they get put in the missort box to be returned to the mail centre to be forwarded on to the correct destination.
these items will occasionally come back to me within a few days at which point I'll write a correction on the envelope eg NOT TA, try CA
sometimes, in a few more days these come back again so I'll re write (in slightly angry handwriting) the correct town county and as much postcode as I can.

sometimes these still come back to me

on rare occasions this back and forth just keeps going on and on and on until someone somewhere picks up on it, hopefully these items do eventually get to the correct place

Thank you both for your replys, I feel better knowing that that sort of back and forth can happen.
I just thought with the amount of time that its been, it had just been lost or somthing.
I will continue to wait, and hopfully the seller will get in contact also, so i can ask if he added a return address
Thank you both again.

Its been 22 days now...

There must be a way to find out where it is?

Can this sort of thing really take over 22 days to solve?

Whats the longest you have had to wait for a package to arrive?

Is it time to ask for a refund?

Its very stressful because i got it very cheap for what it is and i don't think i'l find one half as cheap again....
been looking forwarded to it each morning for the past 3 weeks... i'm very frustrated...
i'm hating myself for my mistake :evil/mad

Sounds a bit dodgy the seller not responding. How do you know they sent it originally, you could've been waiting all this time for something that has not even been sent :hmmmm
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

Seems it was not just me who did not receive the product... Ebay gave me a full refund so i'm somewhat happy... still disappointed.

Thanks again to all who took the time to respond.

Well, there should've been a tracking number given if it was sent signed for, sounds like the seller was pulling a fast one

Wrong Post code, Correct Address.

Hello and he-e-elp, please!

I ordered some plants from a plant nursery in Italy and did not receive them. Asked the nursery man to re-send the order and it was sent TO A WRONG POSTCODE and CORRECT ADDRESS.
Please somebody, be so kind to advise me what to do. Nobody in the post depot seemed to pay attention to the correct address. How can I make them put a bit of effort and correct the mistake!?
Thank you. Wish me luck.

Are you saying that you know that the parcel has been delivered?

It'd only be delayed for a day or two IF, and its a big IF, it was routed to the delivery office that corresponded to the postcode. Unless every letter and digit of the postcode was wrong it'd probably end up at the correct delivery office anyway. One look at the address at an incorrect office would have it despatched to the correct area within 24 hrs.

Items going through RM with a full address and a postcode on them will almost always be delivered to the delivery office covered by the postcode first. If you are unlucky the item will 'pinball' between the mail centre and and the incorrect delivery office several times.
A full address with a surname of the occupier is more than enough information for any item to arrive at it's correct destination. Even if some of that address information is missing or even partially incorrect we can deliver it. DO NOT put a postcode on an item unless you know without question it is correct. We don't need the postcode to deliver the mail or parcels to you!

I have given the correct address but wrong postcode to a group of friends who have subsequently sent me some letters.
Is there any way of requesting them if I provide the details of the incorrect address/postcode that is on the envelopes and the correct address? It's not the biggest deal but I'd like to try to get hold of them if I can.

Both postcodes are in the same city it's just that the postcode was from my previous flat.
