Incomplete Address issue (eBay)

Post by txltxl »

Hi Guys,

I've had a quick look round this forum but can't see this question asked already - Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere.

My problem: I sold an item to a guy on eBay, took his official eBay postal address and sent the item Special Delivery. Two days after I sent it, I received a message from the guy telling me his address. It was subtley different (post code the same, however, there was no house number on the original address and the street read as Winerose, instead of the later 85 Winrose).

I get home and the item is returned with an "Incomplete Address" sticker - I told the buyer this and he said it wasn't an issue, just to send it to him again.

I asked the guy for more postage so I can send the item again, but he is insistent that I can just re-post it free-of-charge.

What happens if I take this package back to the post office (with the correct address)? WIll I have to pay to resend it?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Does e-bay have any regulations to cover you in this situation? Don't see why you should be penalised for an incorrect address although e-bay and paypal do have their own quirks!

I'm sure it does have procedures for this kind of thing but they probably mean things have to escalate into a dispute first. This runs the risk of negative feedback (which can be sorted out later) but the whole thing is just a great big ball ache. Might have got through to the guy though, so we'll see what happens.

Thanks again guys, your help is appreciated.
