It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Business Transformation 2010 and Beyond
Full time employees will retain full time status unless they volunteer to move to part time hours. Part time employees will be entitled to retain their existing contractual hours if they wish.

You can raise a greviance then - the 2010 agreement specifically states that no one will be forced to reduce/increase their contract without prior agreement.

If you have not signed the new contract then don't do so until you get CWU or legal advice.

no member of staff will be forced to buy down their hours/go part-time and no
part-time employees will be forced to increase their contractual hours
