Evening everyone
I have recently done some spring cleaning (at the wife's request) and am at the moment selling the odd book/DVD by Amazon. I have invested in ruler/size guide/scales etc and print my own postage by Royal Mail's online Postage.
I normally just use Second Class Large Letter/Packet as appropriate, however I've just sold one item that I want to send Recorded Signed For. I have purchased the postage online and the label generated has a space for the Post Office to affix the orange label.
At my office we have access to these barcoded labels as we use them for letters etc. If, to save me to going to a PO, I was to affix (with my boss's permission) one of these to my parcel and stick it on and then put into the mail via our collection, would this work? Obviously I would be paying for the packet but do Royal Mail link the label numbers to a particular company when they issue them? I don't want my company getting billed for my packet, I just want to save a trip to the PO.
I am aware, by the way, that I would not be issued a Proof of Postage and accept the risk that entails. I would however like the reassurance of the signature requirement.
Any help, as ever, gratefully received!

Can't you self print recorded signed for labels.

I don't think so - on the label it just has the second class indicia along with the online postage barcode and a rectangular section in the bottom right which says is for PO to affix barcoded label.

Yes what you are suggesting is fine and will not cost your company anything. If your company uses a book to get proof of posting when sending recordeds there is no reason why you can't use that for your packet as well.

Those are probably printed from Despatch Manager Online (or the older version, Despatch Express) - the same Royal Mail software that is used by Tracked customers to produce their labelsfishtank wrote:Can't you self print recorded signed for labels.
