HWDC Langley strikes again.

Post by Cali »

Good Evening,

I've been trying to track an important delivery that I sent last month to UK, but it has been "stuck" at HWDC Langley. I've been following this forum lately trying to get some answers. I already did everything, contact royal mail (great costume service), Edinburgh post office, and tried to track both on RoyalMail and CTT. But they all say "HWDC Langley - 8/12/12". What I'm really worried is if the package I sent was lost or destroyed(?), since my delivery contains an expensive art antiquity.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Best Regards,
Carolina Ferreira

http://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

That one gives better details on the RM side.

http://www.gls-group.eu/276-I-PORTAL-WE ... acking.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

That one is for GLS who seem to be the ones who handle all registered post into/from Portugal.

You say the item contains a "expensive art antiquity" so possibly the person receiving it has got to pay a customs fee.

The Edinburgh post office won't have anything to do with the delivery, the delivery of the item will be handled by a delivery office. What's the first half of the postcode for where it's going?

I already traced there, and it still says the same thing "08/12/12 11:57 - RECEIVED IN UK - HEATHROW WORLDWIDE DC"
GLS says No data found!, tried of GLS.uk and GLS.pt just to be sure.

Damn, didn't know about customs fee. I tried on Edinburgh post office, because it's my package destination. It's EH16

To be honest, it's also only been 4 weeks, quite a few items have been known to be there longer and still turn up OK. It's been Xmas in the meantime and so there's most likely a bit of a backlog because of that.

i will be honest if it was a track and trace you should have had the item now, as hwdc send closed bags on a daily basis, all i can gather its either been lost or the package damaged, or simply stolen

i sent an Iphone 5 and Samsung s3 mini in november and it's still processing and being at hwdc :( top marks to the staff and management
thanks for the timely delivery

I'd appreciate knowing who would be notified if there is a customs fee for a package still at Langley.
I sent the registered mail package (large flat envelope requiring a signature and a return "delivered" postcard ) from the US on Nov. 26, 2012. The last place I have is Langley on Dec. 3, 2012. This was an eBay sale of a printed document and the UK buyer has backed out of the sale.
Would the intended UK buyer get a customs fee notice?
If he refuses to pay any fee, does the package come back to me?
And, would I be notified by UK customs or Royal Mail that the package is being sent back to me?
I realize now that I may also have reversed the city/town and county postal code lines on the address label for the UK, but I do think that both the delivery address and my return address were clearly readable.
I have been in touch with the buyer and believe he would e-mail me if he receives a customs notice.
Thank you.

I don't think you'd be notified it was being returned. However, let's say it was sat at HWDC for a few weeks before being released, HOPEFULLY it would be treated as a tracked item in the UK too for starters, and then it would take marginally longer to be sorted to the delivery office as they're meant to go through revenue protection first and into a yellow pouch to be sent to the delivery office with all the surcharges. Then a grey card with the customs fee would be sent out to the addressee (I don't think the mix up of the address lines would be an issue-you should see what Royal Mail staff manage to deliver successfully without an address on!), they than have 28 days or so to come and get the item before it's returned. It might not be tracked/scanned on the return journey as that's not usually how it works-you pay to get a signature upon deivery, no delivery = no signature and end of tracking contract.

That's IF it's got a customs charge on. Some things get through without having them applied, some are applied to things that have previously got through OK.

Only thing I can suggest is that if it's not turned up and been signed for in the UK by the date specified by your postal operator, then you need to put in a claim for a lost item through them.

Thank you, TeeferTiger. My fingers are crossed and I will wait a couple more weeks. Unfortunately, I did not insure with US Postal Service. I will post if I have any progress.

As an experience I sent other package with the same weight to the same address. I put my delivery on the post-office last thursday, and arrived ten minutes ago to his destination, damn that was fast.
I'm starting to believe that they lost my first package or something :(
