"not called for" - No card was left

Post by pixelrat »

A package I was expecting was returned to the sender, marked "not called for". However, no card was left.

I'm going to phone Royal Mail about it in the morning, but I thought I'd ask here first in case anyone can give me any advice on how best to proceed.

Thanks

Mark

Could possibly have been either sent or delivered to the wrong address and therefore you wouldn't have received the card, or you possibly threw away the card along with the junk mail that gets delivered, or the postie forgot/got sidetracked/couldn't get access to leave card...

Anyway, when I used to work in the callers office, we used to write in a book the addresses of the parcels being returned, where they were being returned to and what date they were sent. Hopefully your local DO uses the same system and could clarify if the address on the packet was correct. Failing that, it's asking the sender to resend when they get it back and then making a complaint to customer services to recoup the extra costs incurred (if any).

Thanks for the advice, it's much appreciated.

As for making a complaint to customer services, is that likely to get me anywhere?

Thanks

You may get some stamps as compensation, and confirmation your complaint is bring treated seriously.

However, if you wanted to progress the complaint further for any reason, like say to the Postal Review Panel, then you need to exhaust the RM complaints process first.

It's always worth telling customer services about it as there's no reason for you to be out of pocket if you and the sender have done what you should be doing and it's RM that have ballsed up.
