Royal Mail Special Delivery Been 2 days, No Tracking Still??

Hello I ordered a large parcel of computer components from a website and paid £25! for next day RM special delivery. The item was reported dispatched and shipped on 31st around 3pm and well I knew next day was new year bank holiday so no problem I thought should arrive today on the 2nd. Well it has not arrived today either and then I thought maybe they never processed it on the 31st so today was processing day for delivery due tomorrow. Well I have been constantly checking the tracking and tracing and I keep getting: Special Delivery™ Next Day items are first tracked when they have reached our mail centre. This may be late in the evening on the day the item was sent. Information on your item is not yet available online.

Seriously this is driving me nuts?! What the heck did I pay £25 for and I can not even have a clue where the package is an if it is even going to be delivered. I checked with the website and they said it has been shipped from the warehouse so what the hell is going on? I mean I had two options for delivery a cheaper DPD next day for around £13 and then this special delivery for £25. I though surely RM can not be as bad as my experiences with DPD, and now this?!

OK now as soon as I post this thread I checked again and in less than 1 minute it has now changed to its on its way and is expected 3/01/13. OK that is more like it, lol. Looks like RM spys are watching this forum. :dcfo

In Scotland Jan 1st and 2nd are both a holiday, so if it was going to or being sent from anywhere in Scotland, the 3rd is the earliest you would get it.

Why would you pay for next day delivery on Hogmanay, knowing that there is no deliveries the following day?

Give the tracking number a go there (it gives more details then the default tracking page)

I expect they put it to dispatched when it hadn't been dispatched if I'm honest. Dispatched to a lot of companies means it's in the box ready to be picked up, doesn't mean it's actually gone anywhere. More than likely only picked up yesterday for delivery today.

If you paid for special delivery, you should ask for a refund for that delivery.

If the item was actually posted Special Delivery on the 31st December to a Scottish address it wouldn't be delivered until the 3rd January

I'm guessing you've received the item by now.........but........If it had been posted via a PO counter it would'nt of got collected from there until at least the 2nd January(3rd in Scotland) as all the counters were on Saturday hours that day(well they were in my area), so thats 12.30 closing. All the firms collections were completed by 2pm that day aswell(again in my area, so others may differ). So I'm guessing the sender was telling porkies
