Royal Mail use Pegasus/GEORoute on the assumption that we are all robots. There are so many reasons why rounds cannot be completed at the specified time that the computer makes no allowance for. If, for example, you mention endless badly- aligned, awkward gates that involve lifting and pieces of string, the planners will probably just shrug their shoulders. Also, as the delivery span is much longer than before, why is no consideration made for fatigue which is far more likely to set in over the final two loops?

Why dont the planners get off their fat arses and check the walks themselves. Surely in the long run doing one walk a day properly is better than Georoute and guesswork and they can be shown by the postman all the steps ,hazards, one way streets, hills , flats etc or is that too easy ?

my concern is that the revison planning is a joint plan. All offices should go through the 6 step process and there are over a hundred tasks which should be jointly worked on.

In terms of geo route every walking duty holder should be called first to identify all their addresses on their walk , this is called Sid and Sarah , there should be packet counts per walk , call rate counts , redirection counts .

In terms of the spans which geo route throw up they may well throw up a 4 hour walk but then you meant to put in the manuel adjustments from time locks , welfare breaks , loops and if done properly your manuel adjustments will reduce your delivery span o 3:5 hours actual walking.

if you decide not to get involved you will likely have walks which don't work and a failing revison.

You should have had a start up revison meeting where this should have been explained to you.

So what happens to the 30mins of calls lost?
And couldn't they go the other way to 4-30?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

We did that..............the planners just ignored it and put in their own figures.........which was the same for every duty, so how can we even trust them?

Not forgetting that they wont come into our office anymore because someone was 'rude' to them.

yes Postman if the walk is 4 hours and you reduce that by 30 minutes due to manuel adjustments you still need to deliver to the remaining addresses so it creates more hours in the office. equally at the end of the day the tools only get you part of the way Negotations on both the indoor and outdoor should take place.

Timelocks in London are a massive issue which has created lots of extra hours in offices. Most of the walks in East London have had 40 minutes of manuel adjustments introduced.
