ISF question

Post by nino.aveni »

Hi there.

On 12/12/12 I paid for an item worth 330£ on eBay, which was dispatched by the seller (UK) on the same day.

Now, if I check the standard tracking service I am told that:

Your item, posted on 12/12/12 with reference RU********GB has been received at our international mail centre and is being made ready for despatch overseas.

But if I check the more detailed tracking service (@ http://www.royalmail.com/print/trackdetails" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), I am told that:

12/12/12 20:18 DESPATCHABLE TO HEATHROW WORLDWIDE DC CARDIFF MAIL CENTRE
12/12/12 18:15 COLLECTED CARDIFF MAIL CENTRE

I have not received the item yet, I live in Brussels and am wondering where it is (Heathrow, Cardiff?) and why it is sitting at some mail centre for so long.

Thanks in advance for your prompt answers!

Ask @RoyalMail on Twitter (they're very prompt in getting back to you or try http://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for tracking info which shows more than the advertised tracking website :)
Does this rag smell of chloroform to you?

Going by the trace the seller is somewhere in the area covered by Cardiff MC and they dispatched it to Heathrow Worldwide DC which deals with all items of mail that are leaving the UK. International Signed (ISF) For is basically an International version of recorded delivery. Within the UK ISF items are scanned at every office they pass through but once they leave the UK RM has no control over the item. It might be being treated by your postal service as a recorded delivery item so might not get scanned again until they attempt delivery.

In some countries in Europe a company called GLS handles Airsure and possibly ISF items so it might be worth trying the tracking number there as well.
