Mail going astray
I have started selling on EBay and am very angry at Rotal Mail's failure to deliver several items. In order to improve the situation I decided to send everything Recorded but I am now receiving constant complaints of lateness. I have heard locally that several people have received re-packed mail incorrectly addressed or with the wrong contents and in fact the local delivery office (Liskeard, Cornwall) has been telling Customers to complain, as too many mistakes are occurring. ?????

OK, so now you've had a vent on this UNOFFICIAL forum for Royal Mail workers, what is it that you'd like us to help you with (bearing in mind that we can't do anything about RM's policies, procedures or resolve complaints for you) ?jstvj wrote:I have started selling on EBay and am very angry at Rotal Mail's failure to deliver several items. Obviously, there is nothing you can or more likely not willing to help, from your attitude. I was hoping someone with knowledge could comment on the situation.

What day is it next Tuesday? Right, now you know why some stuff will be arriving later. We are busy. Very busy.jstvj wrote:[...]receiving constant complaints of lateness.
Incorrectly addressed mail I'm assuming you mean delivered to the wrong address, rather than the poster put the wrong address on? It does happen sometimes.
As for re-packed mail have you seen how daft people are when it comes to wrapping parcels? "Oh, that single layer of Kraft paper and 2" of selotape will be fine for this bulky, unfolded garment" Nevertheless, even well packed parcels can get damaged but as it hasn't happened to any of yours that's hardly your problem is it.

Re: Mail going astray
How late......... that would help.
But if its just this month then please bear in mind that the Quality Of Service promise is suspended over Christmas because of the volume of mail. This means that the aim of delivering 93% of 1st class the next working day and within 3 days anyway is no longer possible.
The reason for this suspension is literally because of the numbers - we usually delivery around 56,000,000 items in the UK each day - at present we are near 216,000,000 and a significant fraction are Christmas cards which sadly the automated system cannot cope with so they are sorted by hand.
As to complaining, always best to do this as it helps spot any hold ups in the pipeline, and it helps the Royal Mail catch anyone intentionally interfering with mail - as that is a criminal offence please report instances of such EVERY time so we can get rid of the dishonest SCUM.

Re: Mail going astray
The attitude is because a lot people are on here voluntarily and for free and most have put in a long hard day at work at the buisiest time of the year and with little or no thanks from management already. Its the busiest time of year so please give people some slack and realise that if you cop an attitude then it will be given back.jstvj wrote:Obviously, there is nothing you can or more likely not willing to help, from your attitude. Happy Christmas and please treat your Posties well - especially today as its National Postal Workers day - remember a Posties is not just for Christmas.

I would be more than willing to help, if you actually asked rather than ranting and not specifying exactly what it is you're requiring help with.jstvj wrote:Obviously, there is nothing you can or more likely not willing to help, from your attitude. advice? forget recorded
it does nothing for delivery speed, costs 95p and means small items can't be delivered
100 sales sent non recorded means £95 in your/your buyers pocket
I'm not sure on your point of 'incorrect address',you know you write the address?
