I sent an item to a customer by special delivery and it seems I missed off the name of the business it was to be delivered to but had the correct address and post code.
I spoke to customer services as item was showing online as not available on the system, they said I had given an incomplete address and so the item would probably be returned to me. They couldn't help any further or tell me when I could expect it back, I was told there was no way to speak to the delivery office to correct the address.
Can anyone tell me what happens now and how long it will take to get back to me? Is there really no way of contacting the delivery office in Walthamstow London? I was hoping I could give them the tracking number and they could correct the address otherwise I have to wait for it to come back and pay another £25 to post it again.
Many thanks.

Re: Special Delivery - address mistake
If there is only one business at the address then it's probably got a chance of making it.

Re: Special Delivery - address mistake
The item hasn't been delivered and since Tuesday night the tracking has said -
Your item is being returned to sender.
This is either because the item wasn't picked up by the recipient, or because we couldn't deliver it. Sorry for any inconvenience.
How long does it normally take for an item to be returned to the sender? I phoned customer services and they said it would no longer be treated as special delivery and would take 5 working days to get back to me. My customer is screaming at me asking when they will get the goods they have paid for. 5 working days seems rather long?

SD items that get returned to sender should still be returned as an SD item.
When you try the number on (
http://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) what reason goes it give for the item being returned?

Re: Special Delivery - address mistake
SD items that aren't delivered aren't treated as SD upon return as I found out when I sent something on ebay SD, they'd not updated their address on paypal and it went missing for 5 weeks after being RTS as "addressee gone away". For some reason, despite my return address being on the back, it was sent to RLB who turned the envelope over, found the address, put the whole thing into a RM envelope and posted it back to me via normal post...
