hi
i sell items on ebay and keep my tracking numbers safe with th original receipt,
Ok so i sent an item 1st class recorded on 30/11/2012 to the correct address and postcode with my return address on there too.
However when i decided to check for an update on the royal mail site of tracking and to my shock i realised the Post office clerk shocking mistake that they entered the correct building number but they entered the wrong Postcode ie one number after the first 4 digits it was a 7 digit post code of LS27 7US BUT post office clerk entered onto printed receipt with tracking LS27US address validated N
i checked the royal mail address finder for this incorrect adddress and there is not an address message is "Unfortunately we could not find this postcode. Please check it. If the postcode is correct but we still can't find it, please read the help below to find out what to do."
I am scared that if the buyer is to claim item not received even though i have the recorded number au99...gb on there the buyer can say that the postcode is wrong it is not my fault as i have ebay email proof of actually requesting the buyer to give me their address again to confirm it which they did quickly and it matched my parcel however the POST OFFICE clerk entered the wrong postcode by their mistake into the system thus showing me a receipt with correct building number yet 1 digit missing of the postcode. what can i do because if i use the first 4 digits of ls27 and enter the house number and address it shows the correct address where it should go to just concerned over the full postcode on my receipt is not what it should be

Re: POST OFFICE ERROR
If 1 digit is wrong I very much doubt RM will kick off about it. Also the products you send are not 'tracked'. The item in question is a recorded delivery and is only used for obtaining a signature at the point of delivery.

Re: POST OFFICE ERROR
Wont be a problem - your receipt has the wrong post code but the parcel has the right one.
Your customer is not going to know that there is a MINOR issue with the receipt so the recorded delivery should go through as normal if they are an honest and upright citizen.
Also if there is an issue over a claim then I think they will side with you as they confirm the address was not validated on your receipt ergo they did not check it.
