dingo wrote: I am talking the fact that to work to rule you have to ballot in line with the Trade Laws and only on a work to rule ballot. If you get a yes vote and decide to work to rule and cause a backlog then Royal Mail will normally flood your office with casuals and managers observing the way you sort , prep and follow you on delivery. They will target Indivduals who they think are not working normally
The fact is dingo its already happening and thats without a strike. A lot of offices are under pressure every day to meet targets and make a profit under unreasonable work loads. Being in the business that were in, changes will happen but at the rate its happening at is unprecedented.

Casuals are still coming in to offices especially in the dundee area and thats after a revision which started two years ago this month. Managers from other offices are timing people, taking notes, and telling the person how well or not so well the person has done. Every week theres always someone or several people getting asked why are you cutting off? why did you claim docket when the traffic was below average?

In May 2010 moya joined royal mail and i knew then that things were going to get much worse. Looking at moyas track record in canada post is scary...she does not care about the work force its all about the profits. Another strike will be the final nail in the coffin for royal mail and the union know it.

Although i agree with your sentiments JM, in practise it very rarely works. When managers realise that things aint going their way, they'll pick on an individual and bully him/her until they can find an excuse to suspend them. Then the office walks in support of their colleague, and before you know it you're all on the gate anyway.
This happened to me 2 strikes ago.
Manager thought i would do something because he spported the same team as me.
Rep said no.
Day after strike got suspended even though i followed cutting off procedure.

STRIKES are a thing of the past, I am and will always be part and payment to the Union but strikes are not and never will be in Royal Mail for the foreseeable future, we are at the moment like a trapped rat up a drain pipe and will have to follow the pied piper, so work to rule is and will always be the best option.

Thats my opinion any way :cuppa
NO bags on shoulders please except for Moya who keeps her big fat wage packet in hers

Correct Jenny. Our office is currently running on the good will of the delivery staff and nothing else.Remove this and it will be a shambles.I dont even think a strike would be needed to make our point.

Is it not the case if there is an issue to be sorted.... the union is invited to get involved and talks take place to resolve the said issue......

Thats what should happen and subs are paid for this type of union action to take place........

Sadly the union local or area officials are usually slow to snail pace to respond to a problem.... and frustratation builds up.

Rendering the union very inefficent to the needs of the members they are PAID by to represent... A phone call to the area office should be all that is required to get a fast response of a union offical coming to your office if needed....and deal with it....

Sadly that is not reality of what you get... for what you pay for....

Would you be happy to pay for an insurrance policy that is so bad when you make a claim......?
