Wondering if any postmen/postwomen could help me please
I have been given the tracknumber of an item that was sent to me yesterday by royal mail special delivery.
I have checked on the web and it says item was delivered at 10.35 today and there is a signature but not mine!
I have tried ringing the sorting office as I thought they were open 24/7 but all I get is a recorded message.
Please tell me what do I do next?

Ask to see the signature, although it might take about five days for it to be shown on the system.

Check with the poster to make sure they've given you the correct tracking number (it's a known that sometimes the tracking number is for another person and they get mixed up).

Does it come up with your local delivery office or somewhere else?
Failing that, you need to get the seller to check the tracking number as it's either slightly wrong or for the wrong person. Failing that, the seller needs to finds out where RM delivered it to if it hasn't come to you.
I assume you've checked with neighbours and in any safeplaces you might have just in case it was left without a card?
