Moved to customer forum.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Short answer: No.

Longer answer: Still no. How would we know you stuck them on yourself and that they were genuinely unused compared to a letter that was delivered to you with the stamp uncancelled that you then cut off and were trying to make money out of. Once you stick it on it is gone.

Nope - if they have no value displayed there are "eternal" stamps and there is no expiration date and can be used at any time.

However, if they have been through they system, even if not visibly cancelled there are ways that re-used stamps can be spotted. In those cases it has been known for Royal Mail to prosecute persistent offenders. Accidental use of a used stamp will delay the item and cause the receiver to be charged for the cost of postage + £1.

Have you ever seen the large numbers of 'unfranked' current issue UK stamps for sale on eBay for slightly less than the face value?

"Sold For Collectors/Philatelic Purposes Only", "Royal Mail advise that these should not be used for postage", etc. Yeah, right...

If RM can tell that stamps have been re-used, just imagine how much of a scabby pr*ck you'd look if you got caught sending birthday/xmas cards to your friends and family with '2nd hand' stamps - but they were the ones who got fined for it. :left:

Or your customers (if you have customers). That's not really a good image to be projecting. Hell, that looks even worse than the people who package something like an Xbox in a carrier bag.

Is there some sort of 'technology' in the stamp paper itself? Not sure...

TBH, I never even think to look at the stamps on my mail to see if there are any that have been missed by the postmark. For the same reason that I don't go around looking for other people's cigarette ends that still have baccy in them. Or walk around town looking for pennies that people have dropped. :so there
