Completely wrong postal code

Post by avasquez »

Hello,
Ive been sent a package from the US via USPS the mailer used a wrong post code which doesn't even exist: DAS15 90A when its should actually be DA15 xxx also the address seems to be right except they forgot to put the word "avenue" after the street name as in 34 fakename Av. However after looking in the RM find postal code page it seems to find the correct address when I input " 34 fakename" and the town, does this mean that i might have a chance to get the package? or will it be lost or returned??

it has already been 9 days since shipped and should be on arrival but from what I've read here it might be delayed if it has to be manually scanned, i would just like to know if there is any hope for this package and if i should expect it in a week or two more.

Thank you for your time!

If the town is included in the address and the post code is almost correct, there is no reason why it shouldn't make it to the correct delivery office, even if it is slightly delayed.
Once at the correct delivery office it will be down to the local knwledge of a postman.
Are there several fakenames - eg - fakename rd, fakename gardens, fakename boulevard etc etc?
The fewer there are, the easier it will be to locate you.
If you get a lot of packets you might be known to your postie - in which case it won't be a problem.
It might be a good idea to alert your Delivery Office to the fact you are expecting this partially incorrectly addressed packet.
But all hope should not be lost.

The post code is completely wrong, it doesnt exist i tried it in the RM page and it doesn't find it and says its incorrect. Its is the only "fakename Avenue" there are no other rd or blvd. or any other in the town according to google maps.

DAS 15 xxx instead of DA15 is not the end of the world.
It is clearly wrong as it has one letter too many.
If the town is correct it doesn't need a brain surgeon to work out where it is going.

I think it will get to you.
I got a packet from Russia today. It took 18 days.

There was a service bulletin from Royal Mail that there were delays from 5 October caused by a change in process in the US, something to do with Homeland Security.

Its possible that a knock on effect is that they have had to remove resources from the Outbound to the Inbound mail and caused a delay.

If it's clearly got Sidcup in the address then it should get through, although there are often delays with the USPS.

Also sometimes stuff seems to take ages going from the US to the UK, I don't know where along the line they get stuck but I would guess that customs is the most likely place
