How do I get my parcel? Advice?

Post by Twinkletoes »

I was recently suprised to find that my brother had posted me a birthday present on behalf of my family overseas. Having a funny sense of humour, he addressed it to my nickname "Twinkletoes", not my real name. This name is obviously a joke and in fact the lads down at the delivery department had a good chuckle over it.

Unfortunately, even though I was collecting another package (same address but with my first name only - no ID required for this one), was able to give them the "something for you card", tell them the name it was addressed to and its country of origin, provide proof of my address and a passport, this all seemed to be inadequate. In fact, I was told that unless I had ID proving my name was Twinkletoes, they could not give me my parcel (cue further chuckles).

However, it would be ok if they redeliver it and give it to anyone who answers the door, no ID required.

I am no longer at this address and my former flatmates often do not hear the door. This also means that, should the item remain undelivered, I have to try and arrange to get the Something For You Card from them and start the whole painful process again.

As I have not seen my family in a number of years, I cannot begin to express the sentimental value that this parcel holds for me. I do not know how to proceed further, at the end of the day, all I want is my parcel. Advice anyone??

You could try to rearrange delivery to your new address as long as the Delivery Office covers both addresses.

You can also do it on line. http://www.royalmail.com/delivery/inbou ... redelivery" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Please note:

A postcode area is the first half of your postcode, for example, in the postcode M1 9PG, the postcode area is "M1".
For security reasons, Special Delivery™ and Royal Mail Tracked® items cannot be redelivered to another address.
We hold items for 18 calendar days before returning them to their sender - any redelivery date must be within 18 calendar days of the first delivery attempt.
48 working hours notice is required for a redelivery (this will be the earliest date selectable online) – if your item is due to be returned prior to this point it will have to be collected.

Redeliver to your own address or another
Convenient and free of charge
Collect from your local Post Office® - £1.50
