Keepsake woes - help?

Post by rdp113 »

Hellooooo hope you're all enjoying the very last of our fabulous British summer {yeah, not a great joke I know}

Right, I was informed this afternoon that since we're having some work doing on the house that my other half has thoughtfully booked a weekend away for us {he'll do anything to get his leg over - seriously}

anyway, I work from home and i'm awaiting some VERY important stuff, since I don't know these people who are coming to do the work i don't really want to risk them turning up on the weekend. I've tried setting up the keepsafe service (I only need it for Saturday and Monday - in fact, just Saturday as I'll be back Monday and our post comes pretty late) but they said they need 5 days notice and as you all know it's Tuesday which means that's only 4 days notice.

Is there anything at all I can do???

Thanks
x

If you go to the Delivery Office and speak to the manager, explain your situation and hope he is kind enough to hold your mail for a couple of days.
In the old days it wouldn't have been a problem. Nowadays..........?

Been working in the callers office, for this scenario we just write out a special instruction orange card to hold mail until keepsafe kicks in. But we are canny like that.

See why can't you work in my office?? ;)
Do you think I should call and set up keepsafe now and just hope it kicks in and maybe pop to the depot/sorting office tomorrow and explain? Or do you think it's not worth it?
Surely it doesn't take a whole 5 days!

Give your local callers office a bell and ask if it's possible to do as we do, you never know....

When you say local callers office do you mean the place I go to pick up the parcels when they've been taken back? {not too techy on all these postal phrases}

Fabulous - we get there in the end!! I'll give them a tinkle in the morning, I should think the poor things will be rushed off their feet right now with everyone collecting parcels.

I doubt if they would let you do it over the phone.
You would be better to ask in person and make sure you have some relevant id.
And give your postie a tenner.

Or you could try blocking off your postbox just for the one day............that way the postie should take the post back to the office as undeliverable and then attempt again on Monday.

But if the workmen are there they might hear the postie and take the mail in.
Better would be to get a big dog and leave it loose in the garden...........
No chance of the mail getting delivered.
But we digress........again.

I've got two yappy dogs but tbh they're more likely to roll over for belly rubs than scare anyone away.

Contact the callers office
This an easily solved problem
for short term holds like this,theres no need to pay for a keepsafe anyway
