Probably won't be long if it's not already happened before POs refuse to accept any PPI postings

I think what this is all about is that Rev proctection have finally realised that we are losing millions with companies who are fleecing the system.SpacePhoenix wrote:Probably won't be long if it's not already happened before POs refuse to accept any PPI postings

No disrepect to you. So i go to the local post office for collection, there are say three bags of PPI. I have to cut and tip each one and count them !!!!! I don't think so .SpacePhoenix wrote:AFAIK collection drivers are now meant to check that the paperwork matches the contents and if it doesn't then they're meant to leave the stuff

Re: PPI drop-off at Post Office - sacks have to be left open
The whole situation in my opinion is ridiculous!
I have been told by Royal Mail Business Centre by telephone that if I have two or more bags, I seal them up apart from ONE, which I leave open with the paperwork inside. Err... so why?? If the delivery driver has to check EVERYTHING, then why not leave them all open?
And what about international signed for parcels, as they are scanned in by the post office counter staff and go through their normal sacks behind the counter. How's the delivery driver supposed to know what's what? Especially when there might be hundreds of bags to pick up at the end of the day.
I have every sympathy with the delivery drivers.
I am going to get an update today from my Post Office as to what the delivery drivers have said about this.

Okay since nobody in collections has supplied the answer,I made some enquiriescrazyaboutmags wrote:The whole situation in my opinion is ridiculous!

it seems the collection driver is required to check there is paperwork present. that is all
Then when they take the PPI mail to the MC,it is passed to revenue protection for checking
thats it

But they could have done that with the "yellow pouches"... so if that's the case, why change anything!custard wrote:Okay since nobody in collections has supplied the answer,I made some enquiriescrazyaboutmags wrote:The whole situation in my opinion is ridiculous!

Anyway, I've been told to seal everything up with the Sales Order inside, so that's what I'm doing from now on.

Re: PPI drop-off at Post Office - sacks have to be left open
Collection drivers do not do anything with PPI mail collected from Post Office counters. The Post Office are supposed to check that there is paperwork with the posting before accepting it and the mail is then passed to revenue protection for checking. Since the yellow pouches have been withdrawn all you can do is put the paperwork in the bag. I guess what you should be doing is showing the paperwork to the counter staff and then sealing it in one of the bags. Neither the counter staff or collection drivers are going to check the contents of the bags though, this would be done by RP.

I don't think there is any compensation for PPI anymore?susanshiny wrote:I wonder who is going to be responsible for theft of my goods! My post office has to leave the sacks in a public area because they simply don't have enough room which is bad enough when the sacks are closed. So I used to hand my sacks directly to the delivery driver when he called at the post office which was easier for him and at least my post was secure. Now they are going to be open for anyone to dip their hands in!
I am a small one person business and I only spend £10K per annum max so can't have a free collection, I cannot afford £1K to pay for a collection.
It makes me feel like just packing it all in
Anyway in this case the Post Office should be refusing to accept your mail as they do not have a safe and secure place to store it.

Why are PO staff even accepting PPI anyway when AFAIK they won't get paid a penny for accepting it

Re: PPI drop-off at Post Office - sacks have to be left open
I was told yesterday when I put a complaint in that post offices have to accept PPI post as they are paid a salary by RM and they sign an agreement to accept it.SpacePhoenix wrote:Why are PO staff even accepting PPI anyway when AFAIK they won't get paid a penny for accepting it
Disturbingly though I was also told that the post office staff have to tip out the contents of the sacks and count the items (TOTALLY RIDICULOUS and I said so) If that is the case what are revenue protection going to be doing during their working day?
This whole affair is an ill thought out farce and is definitely pushing small business customers on to other companies where you even get a free collection! I shall be sending as little as possible with RM as I cannot stand the hassle. I was shouted and bawled at yesterday in front of a queue of Post Ofice customers when I took 1 sack opened with the sheet in the top as instructed. How are they going to treat me with 5 or 6 sacks? Sick of it all....

being on the inside of RM,this is typical for most of the day to day dealings.susanshiny wrote:I was told yesterday when I put a complaint in that post offices have to accept PPI post as they are paid a salary by RM and they sign an agreement to accept it.SpacePhoenix wrote:Why are PO staff even accepting PPI anyway when AFAIK they won't get paid a penny for accepting it

They are supposed to accept it but can refuse if it is a large volume and they do not have the space to store it.susanshiny wrote:I was told yesterday when I put a complaint in that post offices have to accept PPI post as they are paid a salary by RM and they sign an agreement to accept it.
This is completely incorrect. All Post Office counter staff are expected to do is to ensure that paperwork is present. The mail is the sent to revenue protection to be checked.susanshiny wrote:Disturbingly though I was also told that the post office staff have to tip out the contents of the sacks and count the items (TOTALLY RIDICULOUS and I said so) If that is the case what are revenue protection going to be doing during their working day?
I wouldn't say it was ill thought out, just very badly communicated (as usual for RM) with Business customers and POs being told contradicting things by different parts of RM since very few people really know exactly what is going on.susanshiny wrote:This whole affair is an ill thought out farce and is definitely pushing small business customers on to other companies where you even get a free collection!
