Special Next Day Delivery .. oh no it wasn't

Post by suebunny1 »

Oh Royal Mail .. you have outdone yourselves!

I was kindly sent some tickets for a never-to-be seen again event on 04/08/12 by my sister on 3rd Aug for guarenteed next day delivery (Sat) .. The sender paid the extra amount for this ( a whopping £10.80 - that is not a small amount in anyone's books!)

When did Royal Mail deliver this? Today .. that is right .. Monday!! 2 days after the event, even though you had your yellow "Saturday Delivery" sticker on it! :thumbdown :thumbdown

MAD .. I am FURIOUS :mad :evil/mad

To add insult to injury, they send a DEAF postie to my door ... is that so I cannot communicate with him?

I am all for equal opportunities but in this circumstance ... really? :evil/mad

I phoned your helpline as I cannot talk to the postie .. and NO I did not sign for the letter so he was kept waiting at the door while I did this. He got annoyed and entered my house UNINVITED! How on earth am I meant to deal with that?

All the agent on the phone could offer me was an apology and advice that the sender can reclaim postage (Several times .. must be a loop in the script!) How does that help me compensate for my ruined weekend???

Is this the way you believe Customer Service should work ... I work in a Contact Centre and we dont have this as one of our training techniques.

What to do now?? I have been promised a callback within 1 hour by the Escalated Cust Service team .. will I get one??

By the way .. the postie stormed off in a huff, waving his arms about after waiting and waiting for me to sign all the while I was still on the phone.. I didnt sign but was unable to explain why! :no no

You need to be talking to Royal Mail not us.
We have no affiliation with either Royal Mail or the Communications Workers Union (CWU), except that most of our members work for Royal Mail and/or are members of the CWU.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

Try Royal Mail's Twitter, they usually give a response if you go public.

Totally unnecessary comment and, quite frankly, you should be ashamed of yourself to have made it.

well for starters. Do you think the postie had the item on Saturday? no,obviously it didnt make it to the delivery office.
So no doubt(given the tone of your post)
you started going on about something the postie could do nothing about.
however you saw fit to keep them waiting whilst you were on the phone. what exactly was the point of that except tocause them grief?
now you have decided that someone with a hearing problem isnt worthy to deal with you.
If you want compensation outwith the cost of the serrvice then thats what consequential loss cover is for.
As explained you didnt phone our helpline, you phoned Royal Mail

Since the potential loss or delay of the tickets was greater than the face value the sender should have opted for Consequential loss cover.
It always pays to do a little research and think things through before sending anything using any courier. Our success rate for special delivery is very high at around 99% but things do go wrong occasionally.
It also pays to take a deep breath before posting on an internet forum and engage the brain before the fingers.

Umm we are not an official Royal Mail site. W do state this on every single page.

Hopefully you have not fallen foul of the 2 things that make Saturday/Next Day delivery NOT guaranteed. That is you don't have an official "Saturday Retention" - unlikely to be honest, or you are in one of the regions that this cannot be promised (ie Islands and Highlands for example) again unlikely. I think it's probably down to human error and the call centre advisor won't know that officially, until they have got a local manager to investigate it.

He would not have known there would be a "situation" with your special so it was not done on purpose. But I would question your committment to equal ops if you can't accept a deaf person in any situation even if you feel you have got less of a service than you deserved.

Keep your door locked  :Very Happy . To be fair to him, in this situation as you were in effect refusing to sign on delivery he could have just left. Delivery Posties are not trained to deal with a customer complaint and as he was only getting proof that it was delivered he cannot solve any problem you have, he has to complete the rest of his delivery and will no doubt get grief for being late.

It won't help you.. Please don't angry with what I post next but RM do not consider you in the transaction, they don't see the recipient as a customer, only the sender as they paid for the service. Do we agree with it - Generally No but blaming an unofficial site for the stance won't help you.
suebunny1 wrote:Is this the way you believe Customer Service should work ... I work in a Contact Centre and we dont have this as one of our training techniques.
You don't  . All the ones I worked in previously did its called offering a customer a refund when an order fails or is late. Don't forget the customer is the one paying for the service.
suebunny1 wrote:What to do now?? I have been promised a callback within 1 hour by the Escalated Cust Service team .. will I get one??
No idea we are not Royal Mail

Posties are under extreme time pressure and he probably got frustrated, Royal Mail question our every minute when we claim overtime and even plan down to the last second on deliveries (8 seconds per address) . If you have delayed him for even just 3 minutes and he goes over - he is unlikely to be paid. Its not an excuse but it does give you background information.

Good job they didn't take that attitude with me...........I'd have just turned and left with their tickets and reported them as being aggressive and are a danger to deliver to, but that's just me

What a nasty person you are.

You left a postman outside while you went to use the telephone? Words fail me.

I would have asked you to sign, and if no signature was forthcoming in about 10 seconds, I'd just have turned around, ignoring your mindless rants.

Do you think your postman has anything whatsoever to do with your problems? All the poor soul was doing was trying to deliver something he was told to deliver, when he was told to deliver it. He doesn't know if it was posted in time to catch the Saturday delivery. he doesn't know who you should be phoning or ranting at.

Do you think all deaf people should be put to work in little factories, out of harms way?
