Christmas 2012 - RM to recruit and pay directly
I've received a 'postcard' in the post this morning which states.....

This could refer to the staff who were recruited under Manpower last year. Don't forget that Angard is a wholly owned subsidiary of RMG so it would be possible to say that RMG are doing it directly yet still use Angard. If Angard are still involved now what makes anyone think that they won't be come Christmas? and this particular leopard definitely won't change its spots... you have been warned.

As an outsider could it be that they'll be dropping the other agencies like Manpower who seemed to be at least partially culpable from the posts you Angardies put up.

Royal Mail will not be using Angard to specifically recruit Christmas temps this year however Angard will be continuing to recruit for the "flexible pool" even during the Christmas period.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Do you think they signed a long term contract with Angard then that would cost too much to get out of 'cos it seems pretty odd to "keep a dog and bark yourself" which is what doing their own Xmas recruiting amounts to if Angard are still being used by them for other posts.

Ditto. I applied at Easter, when I got the previous card. Now I notice that on the back of the envelope that contained the card, it states, If undelivered please return to Romec Print & Mail @ Birmingham Mail centre. Now I know that RM own Romec........?

I got one too.
After last year with Angard, I was pretty sure I would not be back this year - which is a shame as I really enjoyed working at the outhouse in Norwich.
I am tempted being as the card has stated that it will be Royal Mail recruiting and paying us this year.... I do agree with the other user who suggest the thing about leopads and spots... now its a case of buggered if I do, and buggered if I don't.
I have applied and am going to wait and see before signing up for anything.

Christmas 2012 - RM to recruit and pay directly
I too received a card a few days ago and have been online and pre-registered.
I have to say that I enjoyed last year's role at the MDEC in Cheadle and didn't experience any problems with Angard atall. Got paid OK etc. and met a good bunch of people.
I had to reclaim the income tax they deducted in the April though despite completing a form they gave me at the beginning which should have got me paid gross of any tax as it was my only job that tax year.

Re: Christmas 2012 - RM to recruit and pay directly
I too received a card, but after having to take them to tribuneral to get what was owed to me, after seeing lazy shirkers who did little to no work get a bonus when I worked damn hard and didnt, and after seeing shamgard still making the same mistakes over their continued involvement - I have decided that I am not going back to SOMC. I dont believe it will be like the years prior to shamgards involvement, and I dont feel it will be fair to those still trying to get paid week in week out by shamgard either.
But Im lucky enough to have a secure and stable job that means I dont have a monetary gap to fill this year, for the first time in many years - So I also understand and simpithise with those who will go back.
Good Luck one and all!!!!!

Re: Christmas 2012 - RM to recruit and pay directly
Hi guys, haven't posted for a long time! I too got the postcard, however I'm fortunate enough to be in employment so I won't be applying for a position with RM this year. I'm glad that (hopefully) RM will be handling the recruitment/payment, so good luck to everyone who applies!
Even if I were seeking a job, I'd be extremely cautious about taking up work with RM again. To my knowledge, RM didn't (and still haven't) fully acknowledged what happened with Angard last year. We might have received our pay, but we shouldn't have had to spend weeks fighting for it, and I've yet to see any form of apology. Still, I hope all who apply have a smooth ride!

Re: Christmas 2012 - RM to recruit and pay directly
Well, I followed the instructions on the card, got to the RM Jobs site where all my RM applications are logged.
The message read:
Thank you for your interest in working for us over the 2012 Christmas period. To register your details please click the 'Apply' button below.
"Please note: You will be asked to formally apply once our Chrsitmas recruitment campaign commences."
So I clicked "apply now" and then this message came up:
"Unfortunately, the position you are attempting to apply for is no longer available."
So, I understand I have to wait until the positions are formally advertised in September, but am I pre-registered or not?
