Never. There's no way I'd go back to carrying 16kg bags. I just wish more of my P&L walk was suited for the LWT (first half is all closes).
The machine stops.

About as close as we to seeing planners and mangers confess their wonderful prediction tool is wrong and so post- delivery methods depot walks around the country will be reduced in size.

... Roll on the heavy months, posties using equipment properly can safely leave ~25% of the mail now in mid summer and still struggle to finish on time!

ok moan groan and whinge but do nothing about it, same old same old, what do you mean rm police most posties only think of number 1 so it is up to the reps to force them to use the equipment thus saving jobs, if you cant see that then forget it

I agree with you spilie.
When you take on the reps job you sign up to the CWU's Statement of Values one of which is to achieve security of employment for all members, turning a bind eye to bad practice because you are scared of confrontation is no excuse, support from those above is needed of course but the lack of it shouldn't be an excuse for a local rep to do nothing even if he/she feels like they are getting nowhere.
I understand the frustration completely and if you want to give up fine but you might as well give up being a rep at the same time.

Not unusual if you were advancing in front of our american allies.

Me, sub rep and H&S keep on trying to get members to use the LWT, but we're getting nowhere, even the Area rep is having trouble in his office, OPG, just don't understand the problems that are building from not using the kit and doing the job properly. They moan like s**t about a bit of lapsing, but still expect/want to finish 30-60 minutes early every day. It's a nightmare really, you just can't help some people!!

Our Posite is supposed to use one, but it's joined the 30 or 40 others dumped in york at the DO, when I asked him where his was, he reckoned no-one is using them.

Management don't care because the mail is getting delivered.

The crunch will come when these guys start taking time off for a bad back and RM refuse to pay them because they are not working according to the correct deliver methods, especially if they claim a back injury at work.
It's only a matter of time.

That's a sample group of exactly one mackem, there are plenty others with knee, back and shoulder problems down to carrying bags for years, not overweight bags...just normal bags.
The human body is not designed well to carry anything never mind bags...it's a two legged, high centre of gravity thing.
