Re: PARCEL COUNT
Depends how you 'attend' to the parcel... Everyone round here leaves front doors open so its in and out quicker than if I was using the letterbox.

Re: PARCEL COUNT
I attended the new Stimulation at Gatwick last week, where it was done by an outside consultancy, who have been paid vast amount of money to transform delivery offices.POSTMAN wrote:3mins? Do you mean delivering them or something else?islfor wrote:per item sorryislfor wrote:according to the system tool on packet allowances it reads : packets 0.53secs heavy & large 3.00mins & S/D 3.00mins

In attendance was RM best DOM in transforming offices that are struggling to change, he actually believes that we need to be tortoises and not hares. I thought he was a CWU rep how he reacted to our questions.
I have a folder with RM planning values for delivering packets, h&l, s/d, recordeds & tracked..........remember your heavy & large & special deliveries need to be locked in the back of a van at all times, not left in LWT or HCT unattended.
3 minutes given for H&L & S/D per item.

Something stands out to me regarding those figures; What is the point in the massive cost of supply, running and maintenance of the PDAs.POSTMAN wrote:ATTENDACE CALL TIMES.

Taking a single duty as part of a van share with 500 delivery points and using a worst case scenario of each attendance call requiring a signature here are the 'informational' timings.
Using card. 15 x 58.6 + 5 x 78.4 = 1271 seconds
Using PDA. 15 x 52.9 + 5 x 78.3 = 1185 seconds
Difference 1271 - 1185 = 86 seconds
As you can see the best time saving offered for this extreme scenario over two identical, though tiny, 500 delivery point duties on a shared van is less than 3 minutes. Surely the costs for this minimal time saved does not outweigh the outlay.

Re: PARCEL COUNT
The PDA is to provide immediate transmission of information.
With an EPOD card that information can only be relayed once the card is back in the hands of the PHG and then sent onwards for scanning for proof of signature to be available online.

Re: PARCEL COUNT
So,if what i'm reading is right, you have the packets that can be taken out with a trolley (one set of figures for delivery/non delivery ect)and you have the 'large' packets that the old van drivers used to do,another set of figures.
So how the hell would you work out all the different variations for a revision?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

yes we have done this now for a fourth time its getting well annoyingPhilthyPhil wrote:Before the new walks are planned you should count the number of attendance calls per road everyday for a week. The planners should then use this data in planning the new walks.

Re: PARCEL COUNT
Attendance call times for a dedicated packet duty are obviously greater than park&loop because they include travelling time between delivery points.POSTMAN wrote:So,if what i'm reading is right, you have the packets that can be taken out with a trolley (one set of figures for delivery/non delivery ect)and you have the 'large' packets that the old van drivers used to do,another set of figures.

3 minutes per packet is 20 packets per hour which has pretty much been the standard for as long as i can remember.
The only thing is....i thought the idea was to get rid of dedicated packet duties.....
good times, bad times you know I've had my share
