Recipient Address Verification

Post by oagey »

Hi

before I continue with my query I will admit to being about 90% certain I already know the answer, but anyway.........

Now then,as well being a postie in the OX area I'm also involved with a major charity event locally(the Annual Abingdon Air & Country Charity Show, held every May in support of the local Thames Valley & Chiltern Air Ambulance) and it is with that "hat" on that I raise this query
We have been trying to contact a Trader from this years show in respect of monies owing from them to us.We have tried telephoning and e-Mailing but with no reply and are now considering a letter by Special Delivery....is there any way of verifying that they are still at the address we have on file, please?

Many thanks in advance for any thoughts/advice and if deemed appropriate please feel free to e-Mail me off-list at smithoag@aol.com

cheers

You mean before sending the Special?

Google?

Nobody local to the firm and could nip round and check?

Hi Patrick

firstly,many thanks for your reply...much appreciated,mate!!!!!!!!

Basically we want to verify this Traders postal address prior to despatching a letter by Special Delivery and Yes,we have "Googled" them.Google indicates that the address we have is still current, but we are wondering if there was a more accurate and up-to-date route through RM(appreciating Customer Confidentiality concerns I'm guessing probably NOT,but worth a try)
From what we know/have discovered so far this company are from Cheshire,there-fore too far away for a personal visit

cheers

I would use Recorded rather than Special and then just see if it comes back.

Thanks for your thought mate, but surely whether it's Recorded or Special wouldn't make any difference....if the recipient has re-located without a re-direction(ie "Not Known at This Address"),fails to collect it after being P739'd or simply refuses to accept the item it would still be returned to us,though if it is Refused at least we'd know the address was correct I suppose

Thanks again

Recorded is much cheaper and you'll still get the information you need.

Anytime I have had a letter for a business that I cannot place, I havnt seen them use anything specific for trying to track down who it is for.

Royal Mail don't keep a list of names of occupants of homes, and I'd be very surprised if there was a list of occupants of business premises.
