Re: Track & Trace; On Delivery question?
Yes it can be normal, the office it was delivered from may not have the electronic PDA's on that round some of us use to get the special's signed for and still use the paper system.
Even though with using the paper system it 'should' still of been updated by 2ish,some don't.
It should be updated in the morning either way.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Track & Trace; On Delivery question?
Hi Postman,
Thank you for your reply. The letter was to a PO Box number at the DWP / Pension Service. The CS lady said it had been delivered to the PO Box but not signed for. Seemed a bit odd to me.

Re: Track & Trace; On Delivery question?
Yes, the ordinary T&T just says:
"'Special Delivery™ Next Day items are first tracked when they have reached our mail centre. This may be late in the evening on the day the item was sent.
Information on your item is not yet available online. '
Which isn't very helpful 8-)

Re: Track & Trace; On Delivery question?
I contacted RM CS through Twitter and got this reply back from them.
'Hi, I've checked & can see it went out for delivery. Because it's going to a business who receives a lot of mail, it looks......
like we're waiting on the bulk signature card to be scanned & made available to confirm delivery.'
This seems quite plausible, though I would have thought RM would insist on SD items being signed for, even in bulk, before handing them over.

Re: Track & Trace; On Delivery question?
A bulk signature card is what we used to use for firms before the PDAs. You stick a load of barcodes on the bulk card and the person just signs once at the bottom for x number of items instead of signing individually for each one in the case of the normal paper delivery cards.

Re: Track & Trace; On Delivery question?
"A PO Box® is a service you can buy that allows you to collect your mail from your local Royal Mail delivery office, instead of having it delivered." is a bit misleading as you have a choice of either collecting it or having it delivered, and those opting for delivery choose a P O Box number for anonymity of address, hence the unique postcode, such as is used by jewellery makers, property letters and arms or drug dealers working from home.POSTMAN wrote:Sorry i was under the impression that po boxes get delivered to,they do at my place,(not sure about signed for's though)maybe one of my colleagues can shed some light on this as the DWP would obviously get a load of mail,but...http://www.royalmail.com/customer-servi ... gned%20for" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;PO BOX

Re: Track & Trace; On Delivery question?
With a government department I expect the PO Box bit is just a way of filtering the incoming mail.

Re: Track & Trace; On Delivery question?
To be fair it's probably on a firm, the firm most definitely i would guess have a PDA,so bit confused why they would use the paper method, scanning 100 reg/recordeds as apposed to peeling off 100 stickers is a no brainer.PhilthyPhil wrote:A bulk signature card is what we used to use for firms before the PDAs. Don't wanna dob the opg in it as it's will be obvious where the office is but something aint right.
And if it was on paper for some reason, there is no real reason for a firm to fail getting the paper back to the cage.
Too many questions, but i think 'we' know the answers.
