cheapest way to send

Post by AJ1987 »

I've sold a chainsaw in eBay and need to post it to the buyer. Its boxed and.not too large but has abit of weight to it. Would it be OK just to take it to the post office or would it be cheaper to arrange a courier?

The chainsaw weighs 4.9kg according to the manufacturer, I don't have scales.

You can send a standard parcel up to 1.5m long and up to 20kg.

A 6kg Standard parcel will cost you £12.30 according to the website.
The compensation is low though at £46. :nervous

use a courier
Royal Mail Standard Parcels at £12.30 up to 6kg, from a nearby Post Office and delivery in three to five working days, is likely to be cheaper and more convenient than a courier.

Strange how Special Delivery £500 compensation is £9.75 just under 2kg and £24.50 just over 2kg  Why such a jump rather than gradual price steps ?
