missed delivery
My partner ordered a dress online and it hasn't arrived. She contacted the sender who then tracked the item and the status apparently showed it had tried to be delivered on the 14th and a sorry you were out card was left. We never received that card. How would she go about getting the parcel now without that card?

Re: missed delivery
that is a really tricky one, the only thing I can think of is go down your local delivery office and hope it might be there!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: missed delivery
I've just used the redelivery option on rm's website but obviously since we didn't have the card I couldn't enter the 13digit ref number. Have to wait and see I guess. The place I used to have to go to in town to.collect parcels has closed so wouldn't know where to go now? Hmm. Strange tho as we were both in on the 14th and didn't get a card. I don't wana slag off my postie as fingers crossed I'll be one myself if things work out but since we've moved the mail is really irregular. Seem to go days without anything then get everything all at once
Yep tracked it and says what the seller told my partner, tried delivery on 14th and the phantom card was left

Re: missed delivery
well posties aren't always saints! cards can sometimes get lost, I admit to lodging cards in door to door junk mail to get the mail through the letterbox at times but if you were in he/she surely should have banged the door bell or knocker loud enough for you to hear!

Yes but not exclusively.
They also use muppets that fly around in 20 year old rust coloured transits lobbing your gear over fences in the general proximity of your house so...check your garden....and your neighbour's...both sides.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Re: missed delivery
I wouldn't wait and see, it will get sent back to the sender if you do that. Ask the sender for the tracking number and then you will be able to collect it with ID. Explain to the person in the office that you didn't get a card, provide the tracking number and 2 forms of ID. Most will be happy to give you it armed with that information.

Re: missed delivery
sad thing some folk who are delivering items whether it be royal mail or someone else really do not give any kind of a toss about the item they are delivering, i use common sense with my approach to mail, I know officially every item should be treated like gold but at then end of the day you can tell which items actually mean something and these for it is vital to get to the recipient. There really is no excuse for your item reaching you is sorta my point!

Re: missed delivery
If the door just opened unexpectedly maybe you're not hearing the knock/bell?
I always knock/ring twice (loudly) then try door handle before writing out P739 card. Approx 20% of the time the door is unlocked. On sunny days I try the back garden and about 50% of the time I find people out gardening or sunbathing out of earshot of doorbell.

Re: missed delivery
Nope I was standing literally like 4ft from the door and saw the guy coming up the garden path. Didn't knock just opened the door. Did the same to my parents down the road. I don't really mind that much but me or the Mrs could of been starkers n then I would of had more than a word with him!Izzy wrote:If the door just opened unexpectedly maybe you're not hearing the knock/bell?
