Redirection service and TNT

I have a Redirection Service with RM to redirect post addressed to a W13 address (West Ealing Sorting Office). Some TNT post is not being redirected. I understand that some sort of pilot scheme is being trialled in West London.
I have been asked by TNT to give them my full address so TNT can intercept mail. Is this safe?

I suppose if it's TNT doing the interception then it'll be fine but as long as it doesn't enter into the RM system then it'll be ok (I think).

What postcode is it being redirected 'from'.
The only redirection problem with TNT mail is the mail coming 'out' of London (W2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14.)not 'to' it. Well,unless it's redirected from and to the postcodes I have highlighted.

Have I confused things. :crazy:
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Yes, tomski asks about "redirect post addressed to a W13 address" so it IS mail redirected OUT of W13, so that's the problem with TNT delivered mail there as they've not set up a redirection system. :shock:

That's the trial you've heard about. Any mail items involved in that will never (in theory) enter RM's network, any that do make it into RMs network will most likely get surcharged

Agreed, but tomski is asking about TNT redirecting TNT mail which they're not doing, and if they did they would then have to put it into RM's network assuming the potential redirection wasn't for just within West London. :Very Happy

Won't be long before the customer will be setting up re-directions with various postal operators if the government get there way. Wonder how much that will cost the householder :hmmmm

The redirection is on the W13 address going somewhere else.
If he has anything delivered by TNT it won't get redirected unless he gives them his new address in which case it's likely they'll shove it in a DSA envelope and pass it onto us.

Simple but it will only work if TNT have the facility for accepting the new address so they can shove it in a DSA envelope and pass it onto us but that doesn't happen. :sad: No interest in redirections like they've no interest in delivering to rural areas. :sad:

OK, I missed "been asked by TNT to give them my full address so TNT can intercept mail" which suggests that TNT just might have a go at redirecting mail. :shock:
What was in my mind though was
(1) "But Nick Wells, chief executive of TNT Post UK, says the universal obligation is for national postal companies, not competitors. "The universal service obligation is for the incumbent operator, not for us or anybody else. You could never impose it because you would not get any competition, and perhaps that is what the Royal Mail wants." - very much the attitude of 'we wan't the profitable bits, sod any obligation or anything complicated' :sad: and
(2) also quite recently and indicating that TNT are NOT redirecting "We recognise how important it is to have mail forwarded when moving home, which is why we are keen to offer this service. Our hope is to do this with minimal inconvenience to addressees, ideally we will have access to Royal Mail Redirection customer information to allow us to ensure all mail is forwarded regardless of which postal operator delivers the mail. We have raised this matter with OfCOM, the postal regulator, and their predecessor Postcomm. Unfortunately we have not yet been granted access. We will continue to discuss with both OfCOM and Royal Mail. It may help to know that the type of mail we will be delivering are bills and statements so we would strongly urge you to ensure that your bank, credit card suppliers and other organisations you deal with have your new address before you move. We sincerely regret that we are unable to offer a redirect service at the present time." :crazy: And let's hope that if ever Royal Mail ever does give TNT access to Royal Mail Redirection customer information they are charged an extortionate amount for it. :Very Happy
