Only getting post once a week

Post by CheesyPeteza »

Every few months we have a problem with our post. It just won't come for 3 or 4 days. As in the post man just hasn't delivered to our street for 3-4 days.

It is not just a case of we don't have any post, we get post everyday, usually 10-15 items, so it is pretty obvious when nothing comes. I check with my neighbours and the shop next door who too also get loads of post everyday and they have no post either. I also work from home so I can see out to window constantly and it is clear the post man has just not come to this area at all.

If the post man is sick surely they have a backup solution don't they?

I have complained 4 times to royal mail. I have never once received any response to my complaints. I even once complained about receiving no response and guess what, I got no response. Three times my complaints were through the online form and once by phone to the main number.

Everytime I have tried ringing the local sorting office, but the phone just rings constantly and nobody answers.

I just don't get what I am supposed to do to find out what the problem is or get it resolved? I am doing all the processes you would expect with a normal company but get no response. I am hoping someone on the inside can tell me what process I need to follow to actually get someone to answer my complaints? Has anybody got any idea what I can do?

Send a freedom of information request to Royal Mail via "the what do they know site"

Ask if their any known problems in your post code regarding failure to deliver every day. Word your request very carefully. Read the site first.

What area are you in,see the link below for an unofficial list of areas that could be having problems due to our modernisation programme, sounds like your area is going through a revision.......to modernise.

Thanks for the idea. I have performed a freedom of information request on another company before, it can be a long process. But it is a good idea, it should get a response.

I am in Woking, Surrey.

Do a search for Woking on the site, the place seems to still be in a mess, your area had major problems last year, looks like they haven't got that much better.

Try Twitter.
Apparently they do reply.

A mountain of post arrived at 5:30pm today. I didn't recognise the postie. So that was only two deliveries last week and again this week on Tuesday and today Friday. My neighbour told me he went to the sorting office at lunch time to complain, maybe this had an impact, who knows.

This is a familiar feeling. No post, complain, get ignored, get angry. After 2-3 days the post arrives, decide it is not worth the hassle to complain further as probably it will do no good anyway and nobody is listening...

Until the next time...

I will tweet them next time! At least it will make me feel better.

Oh one other thing, is it company policy to not have a telephone plugged in to the main number, or do people just ignore it?

You might want to try contacting the Citizens Advice consumer service. They've taken over complaints about the postal service.

Managers used to absolutely hate it when it was done by Postcomm as they had to fill in a massive form every time. They would do anything to avoid that.

Yes they are suppose to reply in 20working days, they are also supposed to tell the truth in FOI requests......................we hope.

DOs don't have phone staff.
they have people who have duties to do plus the phone.
My office covers 4 postcodes. the person who does the phone is alos the person who deals with people coming in for packets, complaints etc
also deals with online redeliveries plus loads of other stuff.
So you can imagine how many calls get made vs how many get answered.

If you do a FOI request make sure you don't ask for personal info regarding your own post, as
they will proberly turn it down.

Youll just get fobbed off with 'oh its just teething problems as we intriduce new ways of working' :cuppa :cuppa

As for phoning the office, its almost impossible to get in contact with a manager when you have a problem on delivery while working for them.. let alone as a customer
