Using Business Name On Parcels Sent To My House Signed For

Post by CraiGDaniel »

Sorry bit of a long winded question.

Me and a buddy have an online business. People send in their equipment for us to repair. We split the work on this so we do 50/50.

Problem we're having is people are getting confused and putting my business partners name on parcels delivered to my house, and these parcels are usually signed for. Needless to say i have trouble retreiving them from the post office without his ID and he's 400 miles up north.

What we want to do is put our 'send to' address as

Business Name
204 Address Close
World
PO 4934984

For example.

What we basically want to know, is what happens if one of us miss a delivery, go to the post office and they ask us to produce id for the 'Business name' at that address. It is an online business and we do not have any official documentation for it, other than ebay records.

Thank you

Depends on your delivery office. Some will only ask for id if it is a special delivery, then the id must match the name on the item. As stated before phone up and ask for redelivery.

surely if your driving license or whatever has the correct address on, thats be enough to sign for it, I'd've thought.

but then again..

Nope as the reverse of this old card says, I think the spiel is the same, that you have to have your own ID and the person named on the card.

Thanks. Guess i'll just opt for redelivery and make sure someones here.

Trueblueterrier - thought i would ask you another question to save opening another thread.

How long do royal mail keep tracked signatures and tracking information on their online database? For example if i go ahead 1 year and enter tracking info of a parcel sent a year ago, will it still show me the signature, date etc?

Or is all this info purged every xx months?

Not sure how long they keep it but the systems are purged every so often, somewhere between 28 days and 3 months I would guess.
