I just can't fathom how it's not available to SOMEONE at RM in the right department.
Unfortunatly I think the RM's stance on this is that if you lose the receipt it's game over. I should've used a more premium service for such important documents such as a courier company and will do so in the future.
The frustrating thing is knowing that right now on RM's track and trace system is an online copy of exactly what I need...just that I just can't access it!
cheers for all replies
so what difference would that have made with no tracking number?.....
i would imagine you would have to have shown the receipt to the recipent to prove you sent it . you should have kept the receipt if it was very important

Only Royal Mail have this little till receipt riding on everything, any other company and I could just log onto my account or call them for my tracking number. So in answer to your question it would make a hell of difference.

yep next time I'll have my little till receipt secured in a bank vault...(sent by Special Delivery of course)
Those people who have accounts do record their SDs and RDs going out (they have their own book for doing it) , it's only the PO that give out receipts.
I'm preparing myself for the zombie invasion, rule number 1 - Cardio
I went back to the original PO today and they got their records out and we slimmed down my Special Delivery to within 4 tracking numbers.
BUT the lady in the shop says that giving me the 'suspected' tracking number wont help because online there is no evidence of the postal address that it went to. she said it just confirms that the delivery has been made. I was always under the impression you could view all of thoose details along with a signature?
Can any one confirm this please? That when you type in your tracking number into track and trace with special delivery that the receivers address doesnt show up?
I thought special deliveries did show an address. But wait for someone in the know. I've been away from RM for a while and am a bit rusty when it comes to what it shows. Think the customer's one showed delivery, and RM's one showed address
here is a screen grab of a Special Delivery I did today on track and trace. Number obviously missing but as you can see no confirmation of the address, just the different statuses as it goes through http://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Mazza11 - I have heard that before but even in our prio locker they don't have it.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Why use another service when the fault was actually your failing?
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

No need to get defensive and fingerpointy. I'm just stating that if I'd of used a professional courier everything wouldn't be riding on a tiny scrap of paper regardless of who's 'fault' it is.
Also now that I've seen the ridiculously flawed "Special" Delivery tracking system that doesn't even state where the item is going to???? I'm quite surprised. What kind of evidence is that? Just a scribble and not even a confirmed address where said scribble was meant to have taken place!

I thought it was going to be busier than it was so passed it to driver, they scanned it, realised I would make it so scanned it back to me.
