GETTING STAFF TO FORCE SELL INSURANCE OR OTHER PRODUCTS IS EMBARRASSING FOR STAFF AND SOMETHING THEY COULD WELL DO WITHOUT
IN THEIR NORMAL DAY.
TARGET SYSTEMS ARE CRAP ANYWAY.
ID LIKE TO HEAR YOU SAY SOMETHING POSITIVE INSTEAD OF RUNNING PEOPLE DOWN ALL THE TIME.

I have never felt that i'm forced to sell anything.

All I am doing is introducing the customer to something that may save them money. It is then their choice whether they want to take it any further.

All I am doing is giving them an extra choice, just like we see every day on our tv screens, radios, ad boards around the towns etc...

People don't become Soldiers NOT to fire weapons.

There is no opt out option in what is now normal business practice in POL
If you are failing to do what is asked and within reason. Then yes, you will be given extra coaching and development then the downward spiral starts. You will then go on to a development plan and monitored with more coaching. If that still is no good for you then clearly you are not suited to the job.

At the end of the day, if its not for you, its not for you.

Then it is fair enough to introduce the products to the customers.

There is no case of being forced in to it, thats what the job is.

You cannot decide what parts of the job you want to do and bin the other parts.

I fail to see why you are making the points you are making other than to just have a go.

If you look at other posts that I have made you will clearly see that in some there are links to CWU sites, clearly showing that a sales culture is the way ahead.

Well I consider myself and the people I have worked with to be ordinary. Some have taken to the sales culture easier than others. However daily fights with the manager over what you should be doing gets you nowhere. Instead you should be focussed on learning how to do it, through working with others and taking coaching onboard.

Ive seen people of the same level of skill go in 2 directions.

1, learn how to do it and move on
2, find something to fight over until proven wrong then find another.

And trust me I know which ones come to work with a sore head in the morning wishing it would all go away.

Well we are 3yrs down the road and its all still here. Just a pitty they didn't make the choice to move on and learn.

So, I doubt that many POL staff would agree with your ''ordinary'' statement.

Maybe you should have chosen a better word.

I do not suffer fools either. Unfortunately there are still so many playing the part of one.

They just don't seem to be abe to understand. The sales culture is not going to go away. Its here to stay.

And you can brand it hard sell if you wish. There is nothing hard sell about it when it is administered correctly.
HOWEVER....

Like I asked at the beginning. What are the reasons, for us as a unit, to still be failing to a degree after 3yrs of the culture.

They all get basic training. Which will include skill at arms to some degree. I'm pretty sure all serving Soldiers have fired a rifle

Your point was that People don't become soldiers NOT to fire weapons, I was pointing out the Medics do. It is actually against the Geneva Convention for medics to carry weapons. They are taught to make the weapons safe and that is the only reason they get Skill at Arms training.
