Parking at Hemel down 50 spaces

We have been informed that the parking at Hemel is down to 227 spaces down 50. Not bad for a workforce of 900+ and nowhere else to park. We have been told that management and important office staff will get allocated parking!

That can not be right,why should management/office staff be given special treatment,where did your information come from?

I believe 227 parking spaces were the original amount,then another 90 were going to be created during the building work by some means,i'll see if i can get any sense from people involved from the union

Still not enough as there will be 200 delivery staff on the site between 6am and 4pm

More spaces have been lost at HCN (albeit on a tempory basis) i guess 30-40 spaces have just been lost,builders portacabins have just been delivered and an area fenced off in the staff car park,nearly half of the under cover delivery van parking area has been fenced off as well and building work will commence in the new year to build a new workshop which will service vehicles up to and including 7.5 tons.When the Hemel deliveries/collections move in with their fleet there will not be enough room in the covered area to park 'em,add to that the extra staff cars that'll be on site....arguments and short tempers look almost certain

Their is extra parking a short walk away,but that is only until another company moves in to the vacant building

I hate to break it to you mate but those spaces are not coming back into general use at any point and they are going to be exclusively for the use of the Motor Transport Workshop.... Looks like yet more chaos with a free for all on parking anywhere and blocking people in.

At Padd parking permits were issued based on distance travelled although there was some abuse of the system and checks of vehicles registered to owners and 'actual' home addresses were rarely done.

There were some spaces reserved for Rehabs (the CWU had discretion over these for some strange reason ;) ) and some for key managerial staff (MCM and Shift Managers). Again there was a lot of abuse and the managerial spaces spread like a stale fart .... how could the Comms Manager be classed as key.

The aims of the scheme were good initially but human nature took its natural course and as the number of permits issued exceeded the number of spaces (to take account of A/L and other absences) staff often queued outside (after popping in to sign on) .... there were occasions when engineering support was waiting to enter the car park as they were not deemed as key staff.

They had the oppertunity to build the workshop before the office was opened but could not make up their minds. Typical Royal Mail, think of the money it will cost first attitude. Now they decide to build one there will be chaos with parking and no room in an already crowded yard

Don't worry chaps, when we get to Hemel there will be plenty of room for everyone - bo*locks!!
