3rd party signed for delivery

Post by martynl »

I ordered an item via Amazon.
I have received e-mails regarding delivery.
The first tells me that the item has shipped via Royal Mail on 1st March 2012, shipping speed standard.
I then received an e-mail from some company called 'Yodel' at 7am on 2nd March telling me the item was ready for delivery.
The last e-mail again from 'Yodel' at 12.51 2nd March advises that the item has been delivered.
Checking the tracking info on Yodel website shows the item was received at 12.29, unfortunately I neither I or anyone else was home at that time. No card was left to say if the item was left at a neighbours.
I called Yodel and they told me the parcel was signed for by someone named Taylor.
I do not know anyone with this name, none of my immediate neighbours have this name nor know anyone with this name.
If this item was carried by Royal Mail who is the best person to contact.
I live in Bolton, BL1 postcode area.

You need to first of all find out 100% who delivered the item.
It may have been Yodel themselves or it may have been RM on behalf of Yodel.
The tracking information will give you a clue.
If it was us it will work on this site.
http://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
If it doesn't it was Yodel who delivered it and you will have to take your problem up with them.

You may also want to check all the neighbours in the street :arrrghhh Happened to me just before Xmas with one of the couriers. Woman from about 20 houses away came up with a parcel for me. In my experience of Yodel, check your recycle bin, shed, side of fence... anywhere really. From experience, if I have a choice it's not a company I'd choose to deliver, I know you don't always have a choice.

Best thing to do is to call Amazon. They will be able to look into this further for you. It's up to them to make sure you receive your parcel, if you don't they have to offer a refund or replacement under the Distance selling regulations.

It is possible they have delivered it to the wrong street.
For example: If you live at 20 XXX street, try 20 XXX Avenue.
And then try 20 neighbours either side of that. And some sheds and some recycling bins.
And people think we are bad? :cuppa

But remember that the Yodel (and all those other companies) is the future of deliveries........it's the way we'll end up going

Anyway completely off topic.......
If all this competition is supposed to benefit the customer, why can't I stipulate the delivery option I want rather than having someone at Amazon assign a random delivery courier.
I think the only way you can guarantee a Royal Mail delivery is if you opt for Next Day, because then it has to come Special Delivery.
The other ones can't/won't/don't offer that service. That alone must distinguish the cowboys from the professionals.

They all offer that service, it's usually City Link who do it over here though.

Amazon's Next Day service?
When I have used it, it has always been Royal Mail Special Delivery.

We either get Citylink or sometimes DPD (although I don't remember Amazon using them).

Luck of the draw here, 9 times out of 10 it's RM, the rest is HNDL or ...Yodel or whatever these days. Not had many probs with RM deliveries, but when it comes to the others......

DPD delivered a parcel to my house the other day, the neighbour took it in as I was out and a card was put in the box. Trouble is it were'nt my parcel, belongs to someone up the road. I emailed DPD and told them all the info and told them to collect it from the neighbours house as we were'nt going to do there job for them. Its still sitting in my neighbours house :cuppa

I've had parcels left at neighbours by rivals, but were not mine. I usually leave note saying where to take them as I am working, they totally ignore them Yodel etc, just dump them on my doorstep, had electrical items get wet can't they just read.
