STOLEN PARCEL WHAT TO DO NOW?

Post by angrycustomer »

Hey all, so I purchased a pair of £265 shoes from Gucci ITALY, and they were the wrong size. After discussion through email with Gucci, they was happy for me to exchange the shoes for a smaller size.

So I walked into a royal mail office with the the parcel and told the the person I need to send this package to Italy, I am not familiar with sending parcels and the like and the person did not offer me no recorded delivery etc, he just told me no problem, I trusted he knew what I needed to do to get my parcel to Italy, so I then paid the the fee on my debit card.

This was 13 days ago or so, and Gucci (in Italy) have told me today my parcel has not arrived.
Is it my own fault for having so much faith in my countries postal service ROYAL Mail, or not.

I find it really hard to believe I can walk into a royal mail office, PAY FOR A SERVICE, and then when my £265 parcel is blatantly stolen, not be entitled to no compensation because I didn't pay for EXTRA SERVICES. If this is the case could someone let me know so I can open a postal service and become very wealthy, with immunity to stealing what ever I want provided the customer didn't pay for a service that I did not offer them.

Thank's in advanced, sorry to come across like this and I understand not all of you are thieves, but is all I am entitled to honestly a couple of 30 pence stamps as compensation for my £265 parcel. Or do one of you know a way around this, thank`s again.

30p stamps?! Since when?!

But seriously, how do you know it was stolen in the UK?! How do you know it's even been stolen at all and isn't just sat somewhere been delayed? What if Gucci are just pulling a fast one on you? And why didn't Gucci tell you that it had to be sent back tracked/signed for? If you're sending something worth £265, surely your own common sense would dictate that you'd want proof of delivery, ESPECIALLY when sending it to another country?!

I suppose it's easier to just accuse Royal Mail staff though, isn't it? Easy targets and they'll just pay out the stamps (1st class is 46p btw) when you give proof of postage.

Thank you for your sarcastic reply, it was really helpful, if what you are saying is I should have to pay for an extra service (one that I am not even told about) to make sure stuff does not get stolen whilst in your possession, then surely you are agreeing with the incompetence of this postal service? I mean you deliver parcels as a business module, are you telling me I need to pay a surcharge to make sure you do it well haha.

I am afraid to tell you I trust Gucci`s word more so than the individuals at royal mail, who have, after me reading forums etc, notoriously stolen even recorded delivery parcels, (shakes head).

I do not see why this would anger you when I clearly left a disclaimer in my previous post namely "Thank's in advanced, sorry to come across like this and I understand not all of you are thieves"
The ones who steal know who you are, and I hope one day an important package on delivery to your granny, possibly a heater, gets stolen and they die by freezing to death.

As anyone else got an idea what I can do now, PS surely the honest ones out of you, the majority I hope, would want me to change my current opinion, and agree with me that these thieves should burn in hell?

This is the point I'm trying to make!! How do you know it was stolen whilst in RM's care?! You were sending it abroad! RM don't deliver in Italy! Why aren't you accusing the Italians of being light fingered?

I was trying to make you realise that not everything that happens is due to thieves within RM, despite what the media would have you believe.

The only thing you CAN do now is fill in P58 form after 15 working days and put in a claim for a lost item with your proof of postage.

So basically , when you send a parcel with Royal Mail using their standard service which I paid for, you have to just HOPE and PRAY it reaches its destination, RM do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING on their side to protect their clients parcels? RM do not know whether my parcel reached Italy or not for example? I see, that sounds a little strange, so what you mean is using RM is the same as asking a person you do not know from the street to deliver a parcel for you? Ill try that next time, sounds a little cheaper, Thank`s, Angry Customer!

PS Alright let`s say it could have been stolen by Italians, which is not RM's fault according to you (I still do not agree with the ethic that you cannot even tell me if this is the case), lets say I sent this parcel to England then are you telling me I would be entitled to my £265 plus postage fee?

Italy has the worst and most unreliable service in the EU
look on eBay and you will see many (global) sellers wont send to Italy

No you don't hope and prey, you select the correct service d/with adequate insurance for what you are sending. Which is up to 10 times the value of the item that's being sent. Having said that, did you ask the post office staff the best way of sending this? Did you tell them the value of the item?

As custardly said, Italy have one of the worse postal services in Europe (if not the world) and wouldn't be surprised if it's gone missing at that end.

But at the end of the day, it's up to you, as a customer to select the proper postal method anor insurance.

Italy
Start date: 3rd February 2012

Due to the heavy snowfall in Italy, especially in the Northern part of the country, some delays in mail forwarding and delivery (parcel and letter mail products) are likley.

Until now flights have left Milan Airport regularly but there are concerns about surface transport and the scheduled trucks to bordering countries leaving Milan’s Office of Exchange, delays are expected due to the snow and ice on highways.

The "I trust Gucci`s word more so than the individuals at royal mail" statement was in response to, "maybe Gucci are trying to pull a fast one on you" Cmon we all know that is rubbish.

No the man on the desk did not offer me anything, I just said I need to send this to this address in Italy, he did not weigh it or anything, just said, fine and took payment. He did not put it through a scanner or scales or anything of the sort (whilst I was there/before he took my money).

As much as it hurts me to say it you are ALL RIGHT, it is completely my own fault for expecting anything more from people these days, be it Italian or English, I hope who ever stole them need's the money more than myself I do not blame them I blame their employers for allowing them to do it.

Hahaha, never mind hey if you don't laugh you cry.
Good luck everyone, sorry for my abruptness, shoes were really nice :funneh .

Thank you POSTMAN for throwing some info my way, If this problem gets corrected i will be sure to come here and apologize completely.

Very strange that at the Post Office you weren't asked the value and "he did not weigh it or anything, just said, fine and took payment".
Although Italy have one of the worse postal services in Europe, if not the world, ' likewise its cruise ships, let's hope your parcel has just been delayed with the snow and safely arrives soon.

Why is it rubbish? All I was doing was pointing out all the possibilities. It wasn't sent tracked, there's no proof it's arrived there, how do you know there's not someone light fingered working at the store? It could be stolen at any point along the delivery, including the delivery point, it's not unheard of for people to deny receiving items you know... If you're wanting to point the finger, at least make sure you're pointing it at everyone who could possibly have done it.

Obviously, I hope it turns up and you get your smaller shoes returned. Whilst we're on the subject though... you clearly need your head read for spending that much on a pair of shoes. I mean, I'm female and I love my shoes, but blimey! :chuckle
